Green Grass

Somethings in life seem hard to get. You know, like this boulder with a close to perfect circle cut through it till you can see green grass. Others are easy to find and get. For example, if you wanted a nice blend of moody ballads and rockabilly tunes that blasted you back to the 50's, you should have been in Freeport last night. Before the skies burst open with a tremendous fireworks display, Chris Isaak entertained thousands in in his flashy aqua and rhinestone suit and his tight band. They've been playing together for 25 years, and it showed. He played his hits "Wicked Game", Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing", "Somebody's Crying", "Blue Hotel", "Dancin", "San Francisco Days" and from his new CD, Beyond the Sun, a bunch of iconic classics by legends Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash. In between he played and played and looked to be having a bunch of fun. There wasn't a dud in the mix. He even came out for his encore in his famous mirrorball suit, that resembles a disco ball with hundreds of square mirrors. All in all-- great music under the stars, and oh ya, it was FREE! Enjoyment that was easy to get!

  1. I never even heard of him before we went!
He put on a GREAT show and has a new fan.
The night was perfect: perfect weather, great friends, great food.....and yummy cosmopolitans in diet ice tea bottles.
There was no expense spared in this fireworks display either.
    Fun night.
    Happy Birthday LL Beans.

  5. It is amazing to me the energy bands bring at showtime. I would like some of that! By the way, we saw some boulders like this in the Rockies... might be from drilling, what?

  7. Can't beat good, free music. Nor can you beat a perfect hole in a rock. Unless you try to stuff a square peg into it. But if you were to try that I'd have to say you're probably the kind of person who likes "rap" crap (I refuse to call it music!) ... :-)

  12. I was having trouble with the figure-ground here until I clicked open the big version. Don't know this musician but I am partial to Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen.

  13. Cool post. And I misread your header to say "green glass" (OK I KNOW I NEED GLASSES) and so I saw the green circle as a piece of green glass laying on a slab of rock. I thought what a wonderful green it was and how I had never seen glass quite that shade before...

well I'm off to put my head on and have breakfast now.
