It was and still is a massive building but one room was devoted to reading newspapers. There was five or six round tables with one or two chairs. Men, more than women, went to a rack containing newspapers draped on a long stick that you carried over to a table and laid the stick on the table and opened the newspaper to read it. The library provided ashtrays and the old men sat there smoking big cigars while reading the newspapers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-806671613875975371.post-37050517400326886742011-01-30T09:49:28.696-05:002011-01-30T09:49:28.696-05:00Got my words turned around...the red vase ...Got my words turned around...the red vase ...Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09223040482420514208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-806671613875975371.post-8428942256379096792011-01-30T09:48:38.403-05:002011-01-30T09:48:38.403-05:00The arched window with the red bloom in a vase is ...The arched window with the red bloom in a vase is a lovely photo.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09223040482420514208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-806671613875975371.post-2948350849505164312011-01-30T09:38:42.838-05:002011-01-30T09:38:42.838-05:00Love this shot and am partial to libraries in old ...Love this shot and am partial to libraries in old buildings with character like this one.Sharon Creechhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01297551991159941966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-806671613875975371.post-38443130983491063922011-01-30T09:16:07.558-05:002011-01-30T09:16:07.558-05:00I love public libraries.
