Theme Day: Umbrellas

Today, February 1, 2013, is Theme Day across the CDP Blog(citydailyphotoblog) community. Ya, I had a few umbrellas I could have used, even a parasol or two. The other morning, this caught my eye. Umbrella is a new gift shop that I do believe opened just last October. It's a small shop. It's a narrow venue that hopes to have a lot of visitors stopping tonight. It's the First Friday ArtWalk in the city. I won't be stopping by this evening; however, it is a site I'll drop by soon to take a look. These small shops, carrying eclectic, creative items, intrigue me.

  1. That would be popular place here. We get two meters of rain each year.

  2. Congratulations on your 40th anniversary of teaching Language Arts at the middle school. May all of your thousands of former students applaud you. May each and every one be influenced by your photography, prose, and anecdotes. May you enjoy your day!

  3. Didn't know it was a significant anniversary! Aren't middle school students wonderful? I taught them for 12 years before I "moved up" to high school students who were not as funny and open as their younger peers. Took too much energy for me to continue for the rest of my career but I always missed them!

Good take on the theme; love the design of the "u" and glad to know that you will visit and support a small business! Have a sunny day!

  8. A First Friday ArtWalk in the dead of winter? You're a brave man. It's in the low 60's here today and I doubt many people will show up to our First Friday event downtown --- too cold. Have a nice Friday!

  12. Lets call them bumbershoots or parapluie or brollies. Those furriners shouldn't have all the laughs.

  13. Small shops survive usually because of service and friendliness -- unlike the corporate box stores. But now that I think about it who is surviving with the most profits? -- barbara
