Some City Colors

Just down from the Portland Museum of Art, you'll find one of the more intriguing eateries in the city: The Dogfish Cafe. We went there last Friday evening, after viewing American Moderns: Masterworks on Paper from the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. I had the California Turkey Club: Marinated turkey tenderloin, sliced avocado, apple-smoked bacon, green leaf lettuce, vine-ripe tomatoes and herb mayo on grilled ciabatta. Quite delicious! Funny! Outside the restaurant, this pole to the left is loaded stickers from the museum. Kind of colorful, if you ask me.

Window Art

Looking out at Middle Street from the confines of the Good Egg Cafe, this window caught my eye as soon as I sat down. It's one of those eateries with a split personality. In the AM, it's the Good Egg Cafe, serving a regular breakfast fare with a healthy twist, and come evening, it turns into the PepperClub: "offering local seafood, local beef and lamb, creative poultry, as well as vegan and vegetarian meals." The PepperClub brings forth pleasant memories of one of my favorite all time establishments in Portland, The Hollow Reed, a wonderful vegetarian restaurant. It made the BEST toasted, tuna sandwiches(my favorite all time lunch entree), with plenty of sprouts and thick slices of homemade bread. Many a Saturday, we'd venture down to the Old Port, and I'd partake in one of these. Mom taught me well. They were(my words) to DIE for. Honest!

American Cafe

Our destination, for my birthday brunch last week, was here at Bintliff's American Cafe. We had never been here, but many of our friends had and raved about it, especially the brunch. My choice of entree was the Veggie Homefries, and it was more than enough for me. Lots of veggies, lots of homefries and my favorite: 2 eggs, sunnyside topping it all off. We sat outside on the second floor deck. It was just beginning to get warm, but a large tree and a gentle AM breeze made it perfect.
VEGGIE HOMEFRIES Baby spinach, tomato, mushroom, asparagus, onion, red bell pepper, broccoli & zucchini, sautéed & served over 3 potato homefries with Italian cheese blend & two eggs
The inside is quite charming and comfy. You won't be disappointed!

*note to brother- you have my permission to post (inside joke) my breakfast on your Facebook page. hahahaha!

Farmers Table

The Farmers Table is a restaurant with a sort of unique design to it: note the rounded inside eating area, the outside seating that stretches to Commercial Street and the deck lurking above with the orange umbrellas. Can't speak for the weekday, but most Sunday mornings this is a hustling bustling place.
