Footprints

The Fore River Sanctuary winds through the wetlands just off Congress Street near the old Stroudwater Village. It is the home of many songbirds and small mammals along with Portland only waterfall, Jewett Falls. Pictured here, after the latest snowfall this week, is one of the first boardwalks you encounter at the trail head. This photograph is symbolic of a new part of me-- a part I've struggled with forever- a part I HATE with a passion-- exercising. This time it's going to be different. I'm in a good place after my surgery, and I know, for those I love, I must get with the program! I will!

  1. A very strong incentive, this time. A beautiful image, simple and poetic.

  2. Some of us look forward to running, walking, biking, etc. Others have a deep resentment towards things we are supposed to do because they are "good for us." But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. As an option to being dead, exercising ain't a bad deal.

  3. We have reached the point in Ohio where the weather is random. Today 60 degrees. Two days ago snow covered the deck and the kid's swingset. But the beauty in the shots and the cold remind me that while I long for spring, once it is really here I will long for cold.
    Thanks.

  5. I really like this image. The footprints can be interpreted several ways, I think they are on the path to wellness and the first step is usually the most difficult.
I wish you the best with your excercise. Believe me when I say I have walked and continue to walk in those footprints, it does get easlier after a while.

  7. ya know, you can lie to yourself.

You can say, "I use to hate exercise, but now it's kind of awesome, I really enjoy it".

And IF YOU KEEP USING POSITIVE LANGUAGE THEN IT WILL BE SO.

    just saying. :)
