Peeling Walls

Does this wall appeal to you or does it just peel? It doesn't do much for me. It just SCREAMS out work to do on a hot, humid July day. Lots of scraping it looks like. The good thing is-- it's not my house. But I do like this house, that lies in what we call the Greater Portland area. There is a neat reflection going on here too. It caught my eye right directly. Old houses, ya gotta love 'em, but they'll drive you crazy with the upkeep. Well, at least I do!

  1. I never knew why people owned a new house until I owned an old one.

  2. I love it, but then I've never had to scrape paint off an entire house. Mr. Brattcat would feel the same as you, I think. But the way you've framed it makes it look quite dignified.

  3. I love this old peeling paint. To me, it screams history and a life well lived. And, with a fresh coat, many years of living ahead.

  4. The reflection caught my eye first, then I noticed the peeling paint. I feel so sorry for the owner but for now it is beautiful.

  5. I have to admit, I love the look of peeling paint... as long as it's not my house! Speaking of old houses: you said you liked the flower shadows through the curtain shroud. There is no curtain, I just live in a very old house with old wavy glass windows, which caused the rippling effect. Thank you, though!

  6. no no no it's beautiful just the way it is. And the glass is clean enough to shout "remodeled: as it is....

  7. I've tried to paint old, peeling houses. It ain't fun! I do like the reflection, though.

  8. Yikes! That is in need of some paint, isn't it! Wouldn't want to have to paint it if the temps are too high, though. I love window shots, and this is a really charming one! Thanks for stopping by.

  9. My home is begging me for a new paint job. Not quite this bad though.
