Amaryllis

It sits and lights up our kitchen table, this amaryllis. It's upbeat. It reminds us, daily, that Maine winters do come to an end. In some small way, it does take a bit of the sting away from a 'disastrous' event that unfolded at the entrance way of our kitchen last week. I dropped my best camera and destroyed a favorite lens. So stupid! It was just me, trying to carry too many things in from a trip of errands. It's usually tucked away in my backpack, but this time it was just in my hand... and well, I'll spare you any more gory details. I've got backup cameras, but this one's a favorite. Needless to say, I'm shopping for a new lens.

  1. So sorry about your camera! I have a Canon Powershot, but you can't attach anymore lenses...or I would end up in the same spot.

Our Amaryllis is getting ready to pop too. Nice shot.

  2. What a shame! A loss of a favorite lens is indeed a camera tragedy.

I went out to several stores the other day to pick up a few bulbs. Felt like I had to see something of spring before I went off the deep end. The pots are sitting in pots in my living room, basking in the occasional sunlight!

  4. Oh wow, that is too bad. I would be just sick. The day I bought my new macro lens, I slipped and fell while holding it. Everything turn out okay but, boy was I worried. Before I checked my infured knee, I was checking to the cameral and lens to make sure it was okay.
Amaryllis is such a beautiful flower and this one is gorgeous.

  12. Lovely photo. Sad story about the lens. We do love our cameras and all of their parts, don't we?

  13. I can sympathize. While taking photos on a bridge some years ago, I tripped hard, and to brace my fall, I had to let go of my camera on tripod, which went smashing to the pavement. All destroyed. Damn. Good luck with your shopping.
