Life Death

Life and death. You're not getting one without the other. It's a package deal. I went to a service for a friend last week. He had resigned himself to the fact that his fight was over. He had made his peace. Said his goodbyes. He was ready to go.

Life and Death
The two old, simple problems ever intertwined,
Close home, elusive, present, baffled, grappled
By each successive age insoluble, pass'd on,
To ours today-- and we pass on the same.
Walt Whitman, (1819 – 1892)

  5. Ah yes... once you are born, there is a 100% chance that you will die. Just have to make the most of the time we have here. Sorry for the loss of your friend.

  10. Yes---we all get life AND death... What I wish we'd learn to do is to celebrate death as much as celebrate life. But--we don't. Sometimes we mourn and grieve for months and even years after losing someone we love. I was always taught that I need to celebrate the time we had together instead of mourning the loss. When I lost my Mom, YES--it hurt and YES, I cried. BUT--Mom would want me to celebrate her --and then go on with my life. That's what I did....

  11. Your friend was a wise person. There are no second acts, and living in the moment is a hard lesson to learn...often when it's too late. So my friends, Carpe Diem!
