My 15

In 1968, Andy Warhol stated that "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes."

What do you mean my 15 minutes are up? Did I sleep through them? Was I out of the room? Perhaps, I might have been in the restroom. Where are those 15 minutes that I was promised by Warhol? I want mine. I need mine. A promise is a promise.

I have been reminded by many that it's really NOT all about me. As you well know, this is a debatable point that I feel strongly about. Can't it be, 'just about me' for a little while?

I must say this though, I hope it doesn't come the beginning of next week, during the 'frankenstorm' threatening the East Coast. With Halloween, the upcoming election and now this storm, wouldn't my notoriety be lost in the shuffle? Andy, come on. You wouldn't do this to me, would you? Just my luck.

  1. Well, Birdman, all good things must come to an end, even your 15 minutes. Lucky you that you found blogging because now it can be all about you!

  3. You have to take it or leave it when the opportunity comes, but it doesn't matter: It takes more than 15 minutes to read your blog :-)

  5. You'll get your chance. Perhaps you could enter some of your blog posts in the Maine "Book of Strange." And then Letterman might see it and ask you to go on his show and chirp in your bird bag.

Well, you never know. The only problem is there is no Maine "Book of Strange." I made that up.

Have a nice weekend anyway. And I promise never to stop horsing around. :-)

  6. I think you owe Andy a few! I would say you are quite wealthy in the minutes bank! Enjoy it...And let's hope for the best during the storm, as in, no power failures!

  7. I guess it all depends on what you want to be famous for. Me, I'd like to be famous for not being famous. Fame, like the past, isn't what it used to be.

  10. Believe me, you would not enjoy the paparazzi during your fifteen minutes.

  11. At first I thought you were referring to the storm as Andy and I figured you had just screwed up your 15 minutes by having the wrong name! Whatever, Andy W. or Sandy the hurricane, why don't you just put off your 15 minutes until next spring when the election will be over, hurricanes will be a thing of the past or something coming in the future, and everyone in the whole world can just concentrate on you and your fame - except the Taliban and the Syrians and the Libyans and the Mafia and the cowboys and the college chicks and the Yankees and the ... blah, blah, blah.
