Episode 3

(overheard conversation at the Portland Public Library, while sitting in a very comfortable chair)

Two men standing and one sitting at one of these tables. "...so now you'll be teaching us some Micmac words."

This was spoken just before an intoxicated woman was removed nearby by two policemen. Later as we were leaving, one of the officers returned holding a book by his thumb and forefinger at chest level, that the woman had apparently had 'borrowed' before being asked to leave. I had to smile.

  1. Micmac words and drunks at the library, eh? And some people think libraries are dull!

  6. Could be a TV show in that library! Nice looking place.

  7. Watch it on TV news or go to the library, same thing but more interesting in person I would imagine.

  8. Well, I was going to say something about "eavesdropping" but Ciel beat me to it! You do hear some interesting conversation when you listen... Reminds me again never to "talk" in hospital hallways, elevators, and airplanes as you never know "who" is listening... I guess that I will have to add libraries to that list - hah!

  9. Do you know the Overheard series, e.g., http://www.amazon.com/Overheard-New-York-UPDATED-Conversations/dp/B001G8WU3U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1298517079&sr=1-1 ? There are others. Right up your alley.

  11. Are you making a movie? Got some good dialogue going. Libraries aren't as quiet as they used to be, though. And dontcha wonder why restaurants have to play music which consists mostly of females screeching at the top of their lungs while you're trying to eat some food and have a decent conversation with the people you brung?
