Rusted Top

Another guessing game. What do you think this might be? Well, if you wagered that it was the rusted edge of a cupola, you would be correct. Pick up your winnings at the window. I found it in the parking lot at an antique shop near Bayside. Portland, with its long seafaring tradition, has lots of them sprinkled across the Hill, riding high and searching out towards the Atlantic. I envy some of the finer places here, with there window-lined cupolas funneling in the morning sunlight. Oh, to climb up the stairs with a good book and spend a few hours on comfortable cushions, soaking in the 360 degree look and in the company of fine pages.

  6. It's such fun to find things close up to finally get a chance to see what they look like. I agree with you about being in a cupola--what a good time that would be.

  8. I've always liked seeing a cupola. My great grandfather's house in Tampa had one and it always fascinated me.

  9. That does sound very appealing Birdman. Love the rusty shot, I guess that's the result of the salty sea air maybe??

  10. I think you're getting a little rusty! :-)

Seriously, I thought it was just a tin roof that had warped with the weather...but a cupola I would not have guessed!

  11. The good thing about being at the end of lots of comments, is that I can agree with them. If they're positive of course.
