Summer's BACK

Fall is taking the weekend off! Summer returns to southern Maine for the next three days. Temperatures are heading back into the mid- 70's (here's hoping they hit 80). If everything falls into place and the planets align, the painting of the garage and new shed will be complete, and this afternoon after a trip to the vets with the cats, I'll get a chance to sit down sip a couple of Pumpkinheads and watch the two baseball playoff games. Here's hoping for a couple of upsets. I'm putting a few coins down on the Cards and the Diamondbacks. Ah... but sad to say, I will not be drifting across the warm sands of any local beach nearby with this lucky gent. Happy Columbus Day!

  1. Good for you! Over here, the Brittsommar (or Indian Summer), looks to be gone now. It's very windy and no more than 10C today.

  2. He's a long way from home if he's in Portland! I have a friend from Arizona heading to Hood River today hoping to find cooler fall temps. We here in East Texas are back up to close to 90 the last few days. And no rain yet.

  3. What a gift of warm weather we have had this past week, too! Would love for it to remain for another week or two! Love the literary Hemingway quote; just finished reading "The Paris Wife" and am now reading "Hadley" an older non-fiction book which is fascinating.
    Have a happy week-end...enjoy life!

  5. Painting of garage and new shed? That sounds way too much like work. I like the business about pumpkinheads and watching baseball playoffs.

What is a pumkinhead? Hey, I'm from Florida; I don't know nuthin'!

Yes, it's been in the low to mid-80s with lows in the 60s here. Very nice. I hope you do get some of our weather this weekend.

Just remember which end to hold the brush.

  11. So cool that you're getting the chance to finish your chores! And then will get to watch the games. I will still be at work, but I hope to check out at least the Cards on my ESPN iPhone app.

Love that T-shirt. Did you see my posts from Hood River? Lots of folks out in the big winds at Hood River!

  14. We are going for the 80s here. I fell asleep during the Yankee/Tiger game but I am pulling for the Phillies today. With Halliday against Carpenter it will be thriller for us Blue Jay fans even though we are out of it all.
