Today, August 1, 2013, is Theme Day across the CDPB community(citydailyphotoblog). This month's subject is the basic, reliable street light. I didn't vote for this topic at all. Too boring. When it comes to this assignment, this photograph says it all for me. However, I do have a couple of embarrassing stories surrounding me and street lamps. One involves my target shooting expertise, with my new BB gun, from my front bedroom window on Stevens Avenue. The other took place on Coyle Street and involved 'practicing' my basketball skills. Although the statue of limitations has well run out on both incidents, the fact that Mom and Day might be looking down at this computer screen prevents me from typing further information. Sorry! They probably still think of me as their angelic little boy, and I don't want to spoil their day in heaven.
Suffice to say, the devil made me do the deeds!
So you're basically a retired vandal?

There goes my bubble! :-)
ReplyDeleteBang!
DeleteHappy to read that the Wise Birdman we know today was a "normal" boy before! It makes me feel optimist! :o)
ReplyDeleteVery boring indeed. I took two snaps from my flickr archive for the theme.
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered what eventually happens to boys with BB guns. :))
ReplyDeleteStreet lamp and a stop light or so it appears!
ReplyDeleteWhat a kid!!
ReplyDeletestop back-pedalling from the light thrown on your mis-deeds
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good anecdote for the memoirs of Birdman. Your writing takes some of the "boring" away.
ReplyDeleteI have disturbed our neighbors with gales of laughter emanating from this residence. It all started when I read something about your parents thinking you to be a little "angel."
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go apologize to the neighbors now. Please try not to write anything so funny in the future! :)
Oh that's right, blame it on the devil again :). It may have been boring, but you got a great shot anyway :)
ReplyDeleteI found this post most amusing and then I read Lowell's comment and now I think I might have to go apologize to my neighbors too.
ReplyDeleteI can admit it now, I executed in cold blood my fair part of innocent street lamps. We even had special pellets for that!
ReplyDeleteI found the subject boring, too, and more difficult since we don't have street lamps where we live. Now the comments. That's something else. Was this before or after the St. Joe's incident? I suspect the term "angelic" may have timed out early in your childhood career!
ReplyDeleteHaha!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, it's always intriguing to hear of the life of crime once led ... no wonder the social fabric started disintegrating way back in the dim distant past ...
ReplyDeletelol. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteThis brings memories back. In high school I was walking with my best buddy, the fastest guy on the track team. We were throwing rocks at streetlights out of boredom. I threw, missed the light, but it came down on a car's windshield. The guy got out of the car and took off after us. I outraced my friend the track star!
ReplyDeleteI believe the statute of limitations has elapsed.
Yeah, you're right about the topic, Zzzzzz. But you still got a really good image. I wouldn't worry too much about your parents' opinions. They still don't sell iPhones in heaven and the WiFi is really spotty.
