Square Lights

One of our favorite restaurants is Boda at Longfellow Square. It's advertised as a "very Thai" Kitchen and Bar. There is a menu filled with tapas, soups, items from the grill bar thai salads and of course quite a full list of entrees. The last few times we've been there I've leaned towards the shrimp pad thai. Delicious! This time of year, if you are seated here at the window, you'll have an exciting view of the Square and its lights. Since childhood, I've never tired of a ride-by the 'old guy' sitting in his chair by the sea. This time of year the city has him decked out in a red and white scarf with gifts stacked beneath his chair.

  2. I'm surprised no one complains about placing a scarf around the statue's neck and placing gifts behind the chair. Or maybe a few people DO complain but the city ignores them. :) Personally I think the scarf and gifts are fun.

  3. Looks like a fun place. I'll take your word about the food. I'm afraid of patronizing the place, though, 'cause I just know I'd burst out a few stanzas of poetry! Let's see: "You're a poet but don't know it, your feet show it...."

  7. I love Thai food too. EG is correct in that there was a huge controversy here with a resultant law suit after the Eaton Centre put bows on the Canada Geese sculptures they have there. The artist won and there are no more bows.

  8. I haven't had Thai for awhile, but generally I like it. You definitely had the best view in this resto. I love those kinds of tree decorations.

  9. It depends on the wishes of the artist or family, and if it suits the work. In this case, it works.

  12. Ok. Very Thai? Is there also a not so much Thai? Less Thai??
I'd like a big bowl of steaming tom kha gai soup about now. Is that Thai enough?

  13. But tapas are from the opposite side of the globe from Thailand! I do like Americanized Thai food, though. Based on my too-short visit to that country, the local fuisine seems to go from way way way too hot to ohmygod this REALLY hurts! to call 911 STAT!

  15. Tapas are very Thai? Not in Connecticut.

Nice scene there. There was a recent blog post in which a statue was decorated and everyone tut tutted about it. I remembered about Mr. Longfellow's annual dressing up and wasn't as negative as the others. I think it is kind of cool.
