Blurred Dream

I don't dream much.
Well, at least that I remember.
Do you?
Last night I dreamed a lot. They seemed to follow right after the other. One was quite vivid and scary. I found myself somewhere on a cliff with a couple thousand foot drop. Surely, death would meet me at the bottom. Of all my fright-alarming dreams I have had being on sheer cliffs with no way up or down is the most common. Last night I was peering over a very steep and perpendicular drop. Suddenly, I slipped and found myself slowly sliding over the edge. And get this, I had only one toothpick to stick into the ground as I was slipping away. It was horrifying! How I got back to the top, I'll never know. One single, wooden toothpick. The dream woke me up. I had both my fists clenched. It was unnerving for a few moments. I was wide-eyed. Falling back to sleep, for awhile, was out of the question. This one was chilling. Most dreams that I recall, I get over fast and fall right back to sleep, but not this one. I'm still a bit troubled by it now.
Anybody out there a dream solver?
Yes, I know it supposed to be helping me resolve conflicts in my daily living.
But sliding off a mountain...
On second thought...
Might it really have to do with my fondness for toothpicks?

  1. alright, mr. birdman, here's what 'the dream book' says:
cliff: a point in your life which calls for radical change. if you are pushed off or jump off a cliff, you are being instructed to make a decision, move ahead, and venture into unexplored territory. falling off a cliff may also suggest being out of control; do not get yourself into something you cannot get out of.

so i'd stock up on toothpicks... :)

    1. Thanks TexWis. I'm taking this all into consideration.
Anyone else want to take a stab at it?

  2. It's a common dream, I think. You simply get into a situation which is over your head, so to speak. It's frightening.

  3. Dreams can be disturbing, but don't take them too seriously. The brain tosses out all sorts of random images while dreaming. Perhaps the toothpick image means small things can be important, but that's just one interpretation. When dreams wake you in the middle of the night just remember that you are fine, it was just a bad dream.

  4. Most of my dreams involve being in a terrible jam at work or legally that I can't get out of. Sometimes when I wake up I can't believe that it wasn't real.

  5. I guess it would be frightening... I do not dream much, or I do not remember my dreams...

  6. A weird dream. I dream a lot, but rarely remember anything of them.

  7. I dream a lot and hate the disturbing ones that scare me awake. Usually some boogie man is chasing me or something.

  8. That does sound like a scary one. I've had a few scary ones like that but, not recently thankfully. Lately just seem to be strange ones.

  9. Dreams usually mean I need to get up and go to the bathroom. :-)

  11. I dream a lot, but not of a cliff situation. I enjoyed Texwisgirl's information.

  12. Well, first, this is just a terrific photograph. I, too, don't remember dreams unless they are frightening enough to wake me. The psychology of dreams has come a long way, I understand, and Dr. Freud is passe, but I'm not getting into toothpick rescues.

  13. TexWis sounds like she's pretty much nailed it. I'd also wonder if you may feel your tools - the toothpick - aren't quite adequate to the challenges you're facing. Either that or you have a dentist's appointment coming up and need to get your gums in shape. Take your pick.

  14. I think this is so interesting! About my dreams..you know...As I've started a new diet last weekend, I've been dreaming a lot with "food" and lots of ice creams, sometimes white chocolate, sometimes dark chocolate and all kind of cakes! :(
Maybe I deserve a lollipop for lunch today! I really need some sugar!

  15. I think Tex is right Birdman, I must admit I often wake myself up as I fall, good thing we wake up, wouldn't like to actually splat, even in a dream :)

  19. I love the toothpick possibility. I have actually landed in a dream very similar to that. Everything went black, and I thought I was dead, and I was lying there, trying to move and fearing what was next. I woke up a little traumatized, I think, but still alive.
