Veg Out

Do you own a juicer?
Have you ever used one?
On the weekends the infomercials for them are all over the dial. Now, I'm going to admit something here. I'm kind of infatuated with them. Whether it's veggie smoothie or one made of all kinds of fruit combinations, I'm under a spell. Maybe it the swirling concoctions blending all the colors  Swirling, swirling, swirling! You know, now that I think about it, it might just be that whirring sound that has captured my imagination. What ever it is, I can't avert my eyes. 'Look away. It's hideous!" Would I like to use one? Sure. You betcha! I'd be to afraid that I'd buy one, use it a couple of times and then it would disappear into one of our 'black holes', otherwise known as our kitchen cabinets never to be seen again. And that's the truth. However, would I ever put my plastic down and buy one of those Magic Bullets or other dynamic machines?
Nope.
But it is fun to watch all the 'action'.
I'm spellbound.

  2. my husband bought a juicer and makes his own juices every now and then...lets see, i think 1 glass of juice probably costs about $27 with all the veggies he buys for it...and then there's the mess of it all...i'm not a big fan of his juicer!

  3. No, I don't own one and I'm pretty sure I never will. I think I prefer my veges in their original state. Speaking of which, that basket of vegetables you have pictured is wonderful. What would the top chefs make of all those lovely veges?

I had fun with it but didn't like the cleanup even though the ads say 'hardly' and mess.
I may get it out again----maybe!

  7. I bought a juicer for carrot juice. Then I used it serveral times. Then I gave it to Goodwill. Me, I want instant vitamins and the feel of a milkshake, but my juicer took up so much room and time to clean. Whole Foods makes nice veggie juices and Smoothies, well worth the money IMHO.

  8. We have a juicer and use it on occasion. What a huge mess it makes. Most things turn out well, except for beets. Beet juice would gag a maggot.

  9. I am salivating as I look at the wonderful photo of beautiful veggies. Who needs a juicer when you can bite into a tomato and make your own juice? i have been making simple recipes from luscious, bright and juicy tomatoes for the past two weeks. If you like to cook, check a simple tomato sauce recipe from Marcella Hazan, a fantastic Italian cook!!
