Guilty Pleasures

Guilty pleasures. We all have them. For some of us, it's stashing chocolate, stopping for ice cream or maybe ordering fried food when we know it's a no no. Me? I'm sort of hooked on late night 'reality tv'. It's like rubber necking at the scene of a bad car accident. I know I should say "look away, it's hideous", but I just can't. I might watch a season and never again, but will move on to the next. Hey, I'm not afraid to admit it, "The Deadliest Catch" "Ice Road Truckers", "American Pickers", "The Housewives of NYC"(all bitches!), "Storage Wars", "The Millionaire Matchmaker" and more. I've sampled them all. But the creme de la creme has to be "Project Runway" with Heidi Klum(ooh la la!) and her buddy Tim Gunn('make it work!'). Trace it to going to a Jesuit high school and wearing a tie each day, or often hearing the words of a school principal, who I heard say often to his staff,"Men look great in ties", I can't help it; I like ties. I have hundreds. I enjoy watching fashion trends, the stranger the better. And I'm often simply amazed at what the would be designers on the show create, from seemingly nothing sometimes. Ya, I'm guilty! I stand charged! Take me away! Put me in a cell! Hopefully with Heidi Klum!
Got a guilty pleasure you'd like to admit? Don't be a fraidy cat...

  1. Only one, I can tell you I do love ice cream and can't get enough. I too enjoy Project Runway and Ice Road truckers. I could go one and one but I think I'll stop there. Enjoy your cell mate!

  2. Love the store front in this photo. I like Project Runway but seem to miss it. I am a Design Star fan. I am like you I watch them one season but not the next. I would like to see that Art one again that was on last year, hopefully it will come back. But like I say Design Star is my cup of tea.

  4. You are sooooo funny! Reality TV? Really? OMG!

Now I'm wondering about "culcha" in Portland! Sheesh! But, if you think we've got "culcha" in Ocala, you oughta see Oveido!

  5. Reality TV? No interest. Ties? I am with you. I spent 40 years wearing ties to work and after-work activities, and always had my eye out for new ones. Wouldn't I like to get back my investment in ties! Even in retirement and even when hardly anyone wears ties any more, I have still bought a few more. Ridiculous.

  7. Guilty pleasures, oh I've done the stashing chocolate thing (actually my daughter and I had a stash every once in a while lol) oh and I had some terribly bad for me McDonalds yesterday and didn't even feel guilty! My husband likes Deadliest Catch so I watch that. I also liked that exterminator guy that was on, or back in the day we watched Dog...I haven't watched Project Runway yet but I notice they have marathons on Lifetime. I just caught that new show Picker Sisters and I just love that, they are cute and stylish and I love picking through junk! I would love to go on a road trip with them!
When my husband had to wear ties, I always had fun shopping for them and I agree, ties look great!
And yes, that's who Ozzy is named after, lol, it's very fitting!

  9. At least your guilty pleasure doesn't pack on the calories. I think my guilty pleasure might be the inordinate amount of time I spend in the CDP community.

  12. Can't miss "Dancing With the Stars"... Nothing happens during those programs that includes me while the show is on. I don't stash chocolate...I just eat 'til it's gone! Have a good week-end!

  13. Project Runway is right up my alley. I do catch it quite often. Some of the things the judges think are awful, are usually the things that I like.

  14. I am not really a TV guy, here (and probably elsewhere) programs are ugly, but I have my guilty pleasure either...

  18. That's funny - I don't find watching Project Runway is a guilty pleasure at all! :) I LOVE IT! :) Yes... reality TV tends to get me everytime and my husband hates it... But my guiltiest pleasure is probably salt. I'd take a good bag of potato chips over dessert and cookies any day. :)

  19. Okay, I get it. We both went to Jesuit high schools (Fordham Prep in the Bronx here). All I got out of it was an enormous disrespect for authority.

  21. Google Reader was showing us an additional post... Well, I can say that Belgian beers are some of the best and they also come up often with the most daring names, which make them all the more appealing! :)
    God bless you!

  22. Well---I have lots of guilty pleasures, but I NEVER watch reality TV shows of any kind... Cannot stand them!!!! My guilty pleasures are mostly all food (unfortunately).... I had a piece of peanut butter pie for my birthday --and loved every single fattening bite... ha
