This is an onion lamp. Elenka likes them a lot. I'm not so sure. Every time we're in need of some sort of outside lighting, she always seems to bring the conversation around to a fixture like this. I tend to lean towards the more basic. Call it simple. Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't like the design. I really do, but I like them on the bigger houses. However, I must say this, I've never picked wrong going with Elenka's choices... in ANYTHING! Knobs on cabinets, paint color, carpet, rock design on the back walkway, furniture choices. Take your pick. She has the 'eye'. So, here's the bottom line---I wouldn't bet against one of these gracing our yard someday.

Now you tell me.
ReplyDeleteI always knew that you were a wise man!
ReplyDeleteInteresting name for that light fixture. Elenka is a wise woman and you are a very wise man to follow her lead! The pictured door is usual since it duplicated the shutters on either side.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wise man you are.
ReplyDeletefait penser aux vieilles lampes a huile
ReplyDeleteI wish I had $5.00 dollars for each lamp we have had over the past 57 years.
ReplyDeleteThe lamp is amazing - I hope you have one soon.
ReplyDeleteElenka is right... That is a gorgeous lamp. Hope you do get one someday.. Be sure and take a picture of it for us.

(laughing at your wife's comment!) i do like the lamp!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'd say it sounds wise to listen to Elenka :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have the perfect marriage. Elenka does have excellent taste in lamps. This is a good one. Your door photo is fascinating. The door appears designed to close securely, but let air blow through. I might expect to find this is the South, but not in Portland.
ReplyDeleteI'd get it for the name alone.
ReplyDeleteThe vote's in Birdman, it's an 'onion' lamp for sure!
ReplyDeleteI like the artistic composition, the window and the lamp and this picture is wonderful!

Another beautiful photograph. The onion lamp is a bonus.
ReplyDeleteThe expression "onion lamp" is new to me, but at least you made it look OK here.

ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the guy who was asked if he could play golf next Sunday. He said, "Well, I could but I'll have to check with my wife to see if I want to."
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've seen an onion lamp. Do they bring tears if you get too close to them?
Like the lamp a lot! Love Lowell's comment!
ReplyDeleteSame conversation in our house. I love the onion lamp and the hubs doesn't.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. I am seeing an onion lamp in your future.
ReplyDeletethis reminds of the Jayhawks album cover, Hollywood Town Hall
ReplyDeleteLol at Lowell's comment. I do like the lamp.
ReplyDeleteElenka has good taste... She picked you, right?
ReplyDeleteGet the onion lamp...
