Gaming
I get bored easily. I don't play a lot of games. I've tried many, but lose interest fast. Don't read me wrong on this. I can have a lot of fun with friends playing Trivial Pursuit once in a while. At Christmas, before dinner, Apples to Apples was the game of choice. We all laughed, joked and had hours of great fun. Sometimes I feel guilty. I'm a guy. Shouldn't I be playing poker with the guys on Friday nights and heading to Foxwoods and raking in the big bucks? In college, I played Hearts, almost nonstop it seemed. Now? Who will play? Sudoku? Are you kidding me? Math and me? Lots of the younger set play video games constantly. Angry Birds? I guess I'm glad I'm older. I've been caught playing Scrabble with Elenka. She beats me EVERY game. Hey, I'm pretty good with language. What gives? I've played it on my iPhone and have done quite well winning. Probably beating the crap out of some 7 year old girl. Should I tackle Bridge? Chess? My grandfather taught me Cribbage at one time, and I really liked it. I've been asked by quite a few friends to join them in games of Words with Friends. Do I really want to go there? I better play it safe. Anyone for Candyland with Friends?

Be careful about taking up bridge. It's hugely addictive.
ReplyDeleteje ne connais pas ce jeu, qui fait penser a voir comme cela, a une marelle de noel :)
ReplyDeleteBirdman -- Board games are boring. I can understand your feelings. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteI think we should play 'go on a cruise every year'.
ReplyDeleteEver hear of that one?
WWF (Words With Friends) is extremely addictive. It's the 21st century version of Scrabble. Much like you, I lose most games...but, it's still fun. Nice pic.
ReplyDeleteCrosswords are the way to go Birdman, a cryptic crossword everyday is a sure fire way to keep the brain in tip top shape!!
ReplyDeleteWell, you certainly know a good deal about the variety of games that are available!
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on board games either, I think playing Monopoly takes years off your life. Crossword puzzles, and solitaire on the computer are my games of choice; I like the sound of Elenka's game. Hope you aren't prone to seasickness.
ReplyDeleteYes, Elenka's game sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteI don't know most of the games you're talking about, but I like crosswords , and trivial pursuit, and I practise Go and Mahjong.
how about an old-fashioned game of concentration? :)
ReplyDeleteI love playing games especially the kind that make you think!
ReplyDeleteMany people play all sorts of self serving games most of the time. We can avoid those whenever possible. Nice pattern in your photo.
ReplyDeleteI've become hooked on Nonograms, but also like a good cryptic crossword.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, mi amigo, you should take up golf in the summer and skiing in the winter and forget about all those sissy games! Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteOr you could come down here and ride racing and/or jumping horses. Or round-up cows. That's kind of a beefy game! Bring Elenka, though, so when you break your neck you have someone to play Scrabble with!
I'll stick with the hay! :-)
ReplyDeletei do not like games at all! and never did...
ReplyDeletepoker is dangerous!
ReplyDeleteI'm up for a game of clue! Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteOh, we are so totally in the same place on this. Games make me feel guilty - aren't there a lot of more important and useful things I could be doing with my time, like writing comments on your blog?
ReplyDeleteI love games. Family game night is a treat but we don't do it that much. I have about 20 games combined of Scrabble and Words with Friends going at any one time. I used to play video games but I visit blogs instead now.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a nice and helpful piece of info. I'm satisfied that
