Weak moments.
Ya, I've had a few. Usually, I don't do a lot of advertising about it though. The steady laughter that ensues could really do a mind job on me. I'll add at this point that I'd never follow through with these, but I can dream. So here are a couple 'weak moments' that I'm revealing for the first time today. Every once in a while, after attending a car show, I get the idea in my head that, although it would be challenging and expensive, it might be loads of fun restoring a classic coupe in my garage. Maybe a dated Jag. Don't worry. This 'dream' fades fast, like the dust trail of roadster on dirt country road. Last weak, while visiting a fellow blogger http://skoogfarm.blogspot.com/, I got a peak at a new member of 'her family', Moon. She's a beauty. Could I get on with my life, lugging one of these trailers behind my truck? How about the feeding and care of a horse? Would the added work around the house overwhelm me? Rest assured, this feeling of ownership passes fast.
I love a good dream, AND I must say, I'm pretty skilled at it. Thank goodness though. These idle wandering pass fast!
btw, my counseling sessions begin tomorrow!
I think your dream of horses and horse trailers should melt with the snow. This kind of trailer if ubiquitous in Ocala...we are, after all, the horse capitol of the world!
ReplyDelete200 churches refers to just Baptists. There are hundreds of other churches belonging to a variety of denominations or no denominations. Store-front churches like "The International House of God" pop up every few minutes.
Ah yes, dreams....
ReplyDeleteMy son always dreamed of a puppy (don't even go there), a hot tub and a trampoline.
When he went off to college, after about a week, during one of our phone calls we told him, "Guess what we did?!"
Yup. We told him we got a puppy, a hot tub and a trampoline.
He didn't fall for it.
(Puppy? Maybe. Hot tub? Maybe. But mom and dad on a trampoline? Nah.)
Myself, I try not to dream about anything that I can't really do....
LOL, I wouldn't mind that jag in the driveway but someone else would have to do the restoration.
ReplyDeleteDreaming is fun! J dreams about cars, I dream about travel...
ReplyDeleteGood Morning! Skoog Farm here....glad the post about Moon inspired a dream. I have had horses (up to 6 at a time of our own + boarders)for the 31 years we have lived at our farm and boarded two out for two years before that. You have to love it because it requires quite a commitment that will have an impact on your life in so many ways. Vacations, dinner dates, learning as much as possible to give good care, doing chores when it is cold or raining or you are sick or on crutches. Can't go into this half baked or you will resent it. Personally, I would not trade what these beautiful creatures have added to my life...work and all.
ReplyDeleteMoon is a great addition and it looks like she is going to have a fan club.
The header shot of Berlin was done with Photoshop Elements. I went to filter and then selected watercolor. So many possibilities.
(I have an iMac)
(When I was in college...long ago...I had the opportunity to drive an E-Jag. What a car!) You have good taste. My first car was an Austin Healey 3000, used of course (my Uncle sold cars and I was a real buff at the time...said I would live at home for student teaching if I could get it). What I would give to have it today.
Over the years I have had somewhere past the number of 35 cars. This is from right out of high school (didn't get one until then) up to today. During most of the car time I was working so I did the tinker thing. Now retired with more than enough time on my hands I just think about it. If I was to do one, there are way too many to choose from, it would probably be a 1960 series VW. I would prefer a Porsche of that era up into the 70's but they can get pricey. I had 4 VW, '61, '63, '65 and a '71. The last was an automatic..yuck. First one was a a soft top sunroof model that allowed me to put my drum set in to band jobs.
ReplyDeleteNow you have me dreaming again.....love dreams.
Love it! Every time I see a motor home at the side of the road waiting for a tow truck I am delighted our stays are at Hampton Inns.
ReplyDeleteA Jaguar is the only car in the world I can dream of ; A 50ies one, green.Someone offered one to me once: 20 cms long, a "dinky toy". I just love it , and that's enough for my dream! :o)
ReplyDeleteha ha. live vicariously thru others in blogland. it's cheaper and less frustrating that way. :)
ReplyDeleteDreams are good. I want a 1962 Mercedes 220SL convertible, cream with chocolate brown interior. Or a 1957 Chevy Bel Air.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky that my neighborhood's covenant agreement prohibits me from taking on such a challenge myself Otherwise . . . :-)
ReplyDeleteIt really stands out in the snow, but dream your dreams!
ReplyDeleteI would like a '49 or '50 Mercury coupe, chopped, and with a great throaty muffler!
ReplyDeleteThis scene has certainly generated a lot of conversation. The photo is lovely, but I have a feeling the appeal is your soul-baring words...
ReplyDeleteI would be glad to own a garage, a rare and precious thing in our cramped cities...
ReplyDeleteAfter checking the link I can readily understand why you might be tempted to buy that red horse trailer and fill it with a good-looking' filly of the four-legged kind.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot, that red wakes you up!
ReplyDeleteSuch fantasies can create the greatest literature. Such beautiful photos can tell us a lot about winter in Maine.
ReplyDeleteBirdman, don't ever give up on your dreams. From experience I recommend buying a restored or close to restored antique car. Owning a horse is a full time way of life. They need care several times a day. At least you can close the garage door and the car will be fine. No so with a horse.
ReplyDeleteWe all have similar weak moments.
ReplyDelete......and the dreams fade ... till the time of next weak moment and new dreams....
Costas
Red definitely is the perfect colour to contrast with the snow. Very nice image.
ReplyDeleteI have those 'dreams' too! They do come and go. What a great way to put it...thank you :) And that red trailer is very lovely. Hope your first counseling session went well!
