Silver Shoes

So, some mornings I just wake up with unresolved questions. I wouldn't always call them big ticket items, but sometimes getting to the bottom of the issue can take one or two items off my plate. Maybe you can help me today. Here goes. What's the deal about women and shoes? Shoes? Sandals? Slippers? Formal? Everyday?  Why, why, why do they need a million of them? Back a ways, I laughed with everyone when the closet of Imelda Marcos was forced open to reveal that she had 2,700 pairs of shoes. What is this fascination with footwear? I like shoes too. A pair of brown, a pair of black and a couple of pairs of Sperries for the summer, and that's about it for me. But women. I hear them talk. I've overheard conversations. I do believe, in the pecking order of things, shoes might even come before, are you ready for this... sex. So what's the big deal with shoes? Can anyone out there set me straight? I'm waiting.
Tomorrow I might take on Facebook. What the big deal with this mutual admiration society?

  1. I don't think I'll touch the comment about shoes vs. sex. I don't know about silver shoes, but my mother always used to say, "Every woman needs a pair of red shoes!" Those shoes in your photo look almost as good as my red ones.

  2. Well... since you aren't a woman, you probably won't understand even if we do explain, lol! :-)

These are delightful by the way.

  3. Wrong shoes entirely wreck a perfectly good outfit!! It's all part of the total image, like jewelry and scarfs, etc. Women wear so many more colors and have to coordinate more stuff....to look good, that is.
    It's a rough life. ;-)

  4. So if I tell you I'm a woman and I don't care about shoes, will you believe me?But that's true. I do my best to get the right outfit, but as soon as I'm home, as soon as I can, I'm living barefoot! And the best time of my life was when I was living in south Pacific, no shoes needed . To walk barefoot in fresh sand is one of my favorite sensation.

  6. Shoes before sex..I don't think so Birdman..now if we're talking chocolate, well maybe haha! I feel like I'm looking at a reincarnation of Imelda's shoe closet everytime I walk into Aimee's room, she has the 'fascination' :)

  7. When I read your first sentence, I figured you'd awaken to find these in your closet and you couldn't remember how they got there! And then later on you mention sex. Hmmm. Is there a connection?

Put on your brown gumshoes and play detective.

As for women and shoes: Well, it's just one more area which surpasses all understanding!

  13. You see me every day and know that I LOVE SHOES! I don't really discriminate - I love all styles and colors (well, I'm not that fond of "sensible shoes" and never wear sneakers out, unless it's to go for a walk or to go to the gym). I add to my collection continuously, with no guilt involved. . . . how did this love of shoes develop? I'm going to blame my mother - somehow it must be her fault! If I remember correctly, a while back, you told your brother, "Make sure that you compliment her on her shoes". That advice must have worked - the rest is history. About obsessions . . . what about some men and their love of ties? Hmm . . . something to think about . . .

  14. I had an idea for a photo blog/flickr set a while back where I would take a lot of photos of cool shoes. Maybe I should go ahead and do it.

  15. Not all women are obsessed with shoes...Marcos had a wee bit of a problem, no?...Now sacs & totes & bags, some of us might just love those...
