August Pie

I'm all about blueberry.
Blueberry is special.
It might just be my favorite pie of all. Please don't tell the apple, the cherry or the strawberry-rhubarb. Well, an August blueberry pie is a special, rite of passage. It makes every summer, really. And no, this one is not any of my doing. Yelena made it. Her first pie ever! It was delicious,  just overloaded with fresh blueberries picked Sunday at Blueberry Hill Farm in Acton. For me eating this tasty fruit is similar to peanuts and salty potato chips, I just can't stop at one. When no one's looking, I'll grab a loaded fist full and gobble them up all at once, chomping away making juicy juice in my mouth.
Now remember, don't let on to the apple, the cherry or the strawberry-rhubarb.
You promised, right?

  1. Pecan pie is my favorite with rhubarb being high on the list. The area where I live is packed with blueberries. I went to a farm about eight miles from me a couple years ago and picked all I wanted for $1.50 a pound. I munched on a few and gave the others away. Now, I hear you when you talk about peanuts and potato chips. I prefer salty treats over sweets.

  2. Job well done, Y!! That is one delish pie, topped with vanilla icecream, soooo good. Half gone already...probably won't last today. J and Y picked tons of blueberry, so there are plenty more to 'experiment' with Y!!

  4. I just heard a story about how popular the blueberry has become lately. I must say, that pie looks delicious.
On another note, Idina Menzel is a Broadway star, beginning her career as Maureen in "Rent" and then going on to be Elphaba in "Wicked". She has an amazing Broadway type of voice but, she became really famous when she did the voice of Queen Elsa in the animated movie "Frozen". Don't feel bad, John Travolta didn't know who she was either. He famously mispronounced her name in his introduction of her at the Oscars last year.
