Lake Tracks

There used to be a train... I've had trains on my mind in recent days This abandon track lies along side Sebago Lake. This weekend, I'm enjoying some spring-like temps at home and the new Springsteen CD Wrecking Ball. Thirteen tracks of Anger and Hope, and he pulls it off.

"Big wheels roll through fields
Where sunlight streams
Oh meet me in
A land of hopes and dreams

This train
Carries saints and sinners
This train
Carries losers and winners
This train
Carries whores and gamblers
This train
Carries lost souls
I said this train...
Dreams will not be thwarted
This train...
Faith will be rewarded."
B. Springsteen

  1. Enjoy your lovely weekend at home. I love to walk along abandoned tracks but all the tracks near me are still in use.

  4. Would be fun to take a walk here. I saw a Springsteen concert in Gothenburg back in the 1980s. Good stuff.

  6. I saw Bruce Springsteen's exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a couple of years ago, it was spectacular. I have always appreciated his music but now more so.

  10. I love train tracks. They open all kinds of imaginative thoughts. You can dream of yester-year and tomorrow. The clickity clack of the wheels on the tracks, the whistle at the crossings and the bell dinging as the train pulls into the station.

  12. That fateful night
    Our car was stalled
    Upon the railroad tracks
    I pulled you out
    And we were saved
    But you went running baaaaccckkk!

  13. Trains are very romantic for some reason. I love them and wish we had all of them that we have lost. Then we could get rid of the big trucks and help save the environment, too.

    Nice shot!

BTW, you just need to enter your name in our comment form - so we know who you are...OK?

  16. There is a rail track adjoining my place. Next Saturday a steam loco is going to pass by. I really enjoy when that happens. I'm off to listen to Springsteen.

  17. I was impressed at what they have done with some of the old unused railroad tracks in West VA. They have made really nice hiking/walking/biking trails...Quite impressive.

    Enjoy this wonderful weather...

  21. The Boss plays great music. Haven't heard this album yet. What you need for abandon tracks is your own service car. There is a group here who own service cars. They aren't fast, but a great way to explore abandon track, so long as the track is still there.
