Seasoned

They weren't firefighters back then. They were firemen. It didn't take 9/11 to convince me they were brave.

  2. I had a summer job painting these guys. Chrome yellow bodies and reflective silver caps. I was an artiste.

  4. Wow, that one is really old fashioned. I wonder why the word changed, as you noted. These people have always put their lives on the line for the rest of us. Maybe some think that firefighters sounds more military and therefore more honorable.

    That was a scary time; the Lewis Lumber fire. Remember, mom had all our clothes down on the couch in the music room ready to evacuate. Probably the scariest time on Stevens Ave. for me as a kid.
