Go Fish!
That's what I thought of when I glanced a bunch of fish art at a local kids' art show. Let's see. Around the kitchen table on winter nights, we played War, Go Fish, Old Maid, Crazy Eights, Gin Rummy, Penny Ante, Rummy and even a few hands of basic Poker. Mom placed a large bowl of buttered popcorn in the center of the table, and we all manned a piping hot cup of hot chocolate with splotch of marshmallow fluff on top. Mom called the game of the night, and we were off for hours. It was simple. It was always a fun-filled night. Heck, I even played 52 Pick-up with Marchin a couple of times. That's what an older brother does. Sucker!
belle creation, assez primaire, j'aime bien
ReplyDeleteYour patient mother certainly knew how to keep active kids busy.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, sounds gooooood.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great evening. But, you didn't play Hearts?
ReplyDeletelove it. wish more kids knew this joy.
ReplyDeleteWe played all those games growing up too. My brother and I would play war for hours!
ReplyDeleteHappy Times!
ReplyDeleteSo you are a 52 pick-up expert! Like the fish photo -- barbara
ReplyDeletenothing fishy about this. love this piece.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I was thinking about card games today. Never learned to play bridge, but played a mean game of Old Maid, War, and later on Hearts. I guess it's not in the cards for me to play anything more challenging.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that happened among me and my siblings, too. The 52 card pickup, I mean. Didn't play much cards until I went to college and we were aggressively looking for ways to waste time. Now there's no time to spare and I never play games any more.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I booked my plane ticket to Boston today for mid-summer. I'll stay in Portland the night of Sat. 7/28 on my way up to Rockport. Hotel suggestions welcome.
Love it!
