Gourds

Everything has a name. Till about 15 years ago I never knew these were gourds. I might have called them albino, miniature pumpkins with green stripes. I'm sure someone will correct me and supply the correct agricultural nomenclature. What a world! If it doesn't have a name, I'll make up one. Everything needs a name and might you be lacking one I can oblige. We have a trail heading up towards the garden at the top of the rise that we call the 'bunny trail'. How it got its name escapes me at the moment. We have a cat named Molly. I've always called her 'Mollycakes'. Why? No idea really. Our inside the house litter box got the title 'poo poo platter' long ago, and it stuck. Names are funny things. Got a unique name for something around the house? Please share. As for now, enjoy these albino, miniature pumpkins with green stripes.

  2. You told me that both of our cats have a 'Purr Machine'.

I'm happy to report that those machines are working just fine.

    1. Years ago, my younger son, whose name is Christian, was nicknamed "Bub". Why? When he was very young, about 2, he LOVED babies and called them "Bubbies". I told him that he was my "Bubby", which was shortened to "Bub". He's 19 and the name has stuck! He even signs notes to me as "Bub".

  6. Another great leap of the mind, Birdman. We have a few VERY talkative friends who are now known as the Yakkaramas. As in yak yak yak yak yak.

  8. I just love the name you have for the litter box! If I still had my cat I would probably have to start calling it that.

  9. Albino miniature pumpkins with green stripes is a much more elegant (not to mention descriptive) name than gourd. Good job.

  10. I have a grown up in in Maine friend who adds -cakes onto a lot...& her mom has about 5 nicknames from the kids....me, not so verbally inventive...I'm spending time at Audubon seeing "birds" "butterflies", "mushrooms", realizing I have no clue as to their specific names...I might have thought of your miniature pumpkins as Peppermint Pumpkins...but this is the 1st time I've ever even seen them!

  15. I thought they were wee wittle whitish pumpkins and they look like wee wittle whitish pumpkins with those silly green stripes so that's what they must be, obviously. You are right again. That's twice!

  17. I have silly names for just about everything and if I can rhyme it with anything I will. Our dog Buck I call Buckster or the Buckmiester or a zillion different things. My daughter Jolene is Little Jo the Wrangler I could go on but thankfully I won't. Haha!! MB

  21. We name everything but the first that comes to mind is "asher-disher" for the air conditioner, so named by a child now grown...

Any name would be better than gourd and these are beautiful!
