Tuna Wharf

I had never been to Rockport, MA until about three weeks ago. We took a little day trip to Salem, Marblehead, Gloucester and finished up at the tip of Cape Ann peninsula. Surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic, Rockport is primarily a tourist destination these days. We parked a ways a away and walked the out of season, nearly ghost-town streets. The wind was tunneling briskly down the vacant alleys, but we did afford ourselves time to scout the place out and peek in some shop windows. It definitely merits a return trip, but let's make it a July or early August sunny day.

  2. I didn't know tuna barked. I'll have to listen more carefully. "Wharf! Wharf!"

You definitely should go back here when it's warm. Then you can get your hands out of your pockets and take more photos to post!

  6. If you go back in the summer you'll have to dodge all the students from the Maine Media Workshops. They have lecture-slideshows by famous photographers most weeknights I bet you would enjoy. Or sign up for a workshop yourself!

  8. That area is where I grew up. Most of us knew to leave Rockport alone until summer.

  10. Man I love those shots! They speak to me. They yell in my ear, " Hey, have I got a story for you!" I'll take the cold brisk crowd every time.

  11. We went to Rockport back in 1996 I believe. I have several photos but two of my favorites are on that hangs in our kitchen today. It a chalkboard menu. I also have one looking out from main street where you could launch a boat. It looks out into the safe harbor towards the big red building that has all the lobster bouys on its side. This shot or scene was in the movie The Perfect Storm. I recognized it right away. I'll put them up sometime this week on my blog. Actually I think they are already there but really deep inside.

    I love Rockport.
