Six

It's amazing how one's perspective changes once the days start adding up. I always remember hearing that old cliche 'stop and smell the roses', but I never paid much mind to it. These days, I can stop and read a chapter in a book, for the good part, and not be bothered that I might not be back for a while. When time allows, I like to take lots of detours off the well trodden trail and seek a surprise or two. I am a simple man. I can be entertained by the seemingly unassuming. Sometimes I wonder, if I slow others around me down, while I wander around. I think I do, but I guess that's the price you pay for the company you keep.
Here's my assignment for you today--- find something new, take a short, different path, hold a bit of wonder in your hand for a time.

  1. always suprsing what can be found by taking a less well trod path - the Jolly Carter is a public house - what you'd probably call a bar - I can't vouch for its friendliness - it's been busted for drugs before now.

  2. You have inspired me to take a walk in our woods today... yes, even in the rain you can make a discovery. Thanks!

  8. Can I take a raincheck? Today is getting ready to fly back to Hartford and tomorrow is the flight. How about I do some slow-paced mindless strolling around Hartford on Monday?

  9. I'm learning to do more of this, Birdman. Today, I took a slow path of diversion with my young neighbor friends (ages 3 and 5). Everything looks different from their eyes, and they are happy to wander.

  10. Good advice, and not just for people of our age. When you are young, you assume that there is an enormous time to understand and appreciate everything. We know that the time is now.
