When I'm on the move, packing is not Job #1 for me. I dislike doing this activity immensely. I put it off as long as possible. I'm often still packin' 20 minutes before we are to pull out of the driveway and head to the Jetport. If I think I might wear it, it's in the bag! If it fits, it's going! I always pack more than I need too. It's a big issue for me.
Joanne's Helpful Hint #4
Easy packing made easy. Belts and socks shoved in shoes. Buy a small bag for shoes. Tri-folding everything is the key. Travel with less. That's important. Oh, and one final packing tip: Bring a Credit Card! If you forget it, buy it!
If I can do this, I'll be a better man.
I think.
i overpack, too, but probably not as badly as you made yourself sound. :)
ReplyDeletePacking just the right amount is a talent!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you... I hate packing. I always end up with the wrong stuff! But at least you can typically buy what you need if you forget something.
ReplyDeleteI always have to much stuff too! I probably have too much stuff at home too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love to organize, clean and pack!
ReplyDeleteNo problem procrastinating, although my problem is quite the opposite. I tend to be such a minimalist that I invariably shed stuff I really need.
ReplyDeleteI am a late packer and I often use a checklist...
ReplyDeleteI do things a long time ahead. But , as we say in french , I like to 'travel light"(=with as less things as possible) , and it takes time to organise it !
ReplyDelete#1-Write a list. #2-List & bring the essentials. #3-Take only stuff that is really comfortable & you like to wear. #4-Leave behind the "what if I need this" stuff. You don't need it. It usually comes home unused. #5-Remember how tiring & annoying it was last time to haul around all that extra c*#p.Turn it into an inspiration to pack light.
ReplyDeleteBirdman, yeah Joanne has the packing thing down...but CHOICES, man, it's all about the choices! Don't give up the ship just yet! Ah, I remember someone complaining about the number to ties you brought to the '03 wedding in Millbrook!!
ReplyDeleteOh, but I digress.
Lakeland Checks In on Birdman's issues!
Was 5 ties a lot? Remember: it depends on my 'spirit'. hahaha
DeleteOh, yeah, that packing thing is a challenge. I've learned, tho, to pack less . . . and less . . . xx
ReplyDeleteI tend to travel light, so I pack at the last minute and just take what I know I'll need.
ReplyDeleteWrinkle free stuff is key. As is the credit card.
ReplyDeleteI travel a lot and pack early, but not efficiently. If I might need (or want) it, it goes into the suitcase. I don't follow any of those packing rules. I will be away for 2-1/2 weeks beginning on Friday. Enjoy your trip.
ReplyDeleteI way over pack when I travel.
ReplyDeleteGeez, you and me both, except I'd have a panic attack if I were not finished 20 minutes before departure. Older shoulders and knees are finally getting me to pack a bit lighter. Mrs. C often doesn't start until the day we leave and, presto!, it's done. Makes me crazy.
ReplyDeleteHere's another tip: Stack your t-shirts open, one on top of the other. Fold the right side of the pile toward the middle line of the pile. Fold the left side of the pile toward the middle. Then roll the pile from the bottom up. Place along one side of your suitcase. When you get to where you're going, unroll and unfold the pile. Voila! No wrinkles!
ReplyDeleteWhat would we do without credit cards?! I, too, pack too much and yet I pack all "the wrong things!"
ReplyDeleteI hear you Birdman, think I was the only tourist in Paris dragging around a full sized suitcase full of 'stuff' just in case :)
ReplyDeleteI did a pretty good job of packing light on my trip to London last year. Let's see if I can do the same for my trip to Chicago next weekend.
