Yellow Explosion

As summer wanes, our garden wall is experiencing an explosion of yellow daisies. They show up every late August but never so overwhelming as this year. They look striking in both bright sunlight and foggy morning tones. And as you can see here, clearly I have some work to do to upright this birdhouse. It, among others, weathers harsh Maine winters. Of course it does; it's an 'outhouse'. Get it? Terrible pun. I know it late in the season, but I have a new birdhouse to hang today. I painted it gold to make it a bit unique and to celebrate my first summer of 'freedom' from the workday. When I finish this piece, I plan to do the hanging.
Looking forward to Joanne and Bruce winging it from the West today.
As always, they have much planned.
Two weeks of Maine fall weather coming their way?
Tomorrow, their first day here, it'll be in the 90's, hot and humid.
How did that happen?
I'm not complaining.

  3. All that yellow beauty is probably interfering with the approach to the birdhouse...

  4. I'm a simple guy, so I always love daisies of all kinds, whether yellow or white or even pink. Have fun with your company, squiring them around Maine and its beauty.

  8. Mr. Norton! As I got my computer today I was enlightened to know I still had your blog bookmarked, for I think I would be lost trying to find my way back to it, and we couldn't have that happen. Love this picture by the way!
I wont lie...I miss the Beatles in the morning.(as early as it was) This year has been going good so far, but may I say I miss my old Language arts teacher. As my new one is okay.. but he doesn't seem to have finger puppets, and I don't see him wearing a kilt at any point soon. New year, new friends, new people, I will miss this past year. I hope you are having an amazing retirement!
As many stories about your seventh grade teacher you had told us, I quickly had come to mind that you inspired me as did she to you. May I say the Outsiders has became a knew favorite of mine? You really inspired my writing, and honestly my new infatuation with photography. I love hearing your stories about when you were younger and living in portland, I honestly enjoyed listening to them. You are missed by many this year Mr. "Quinny." Hope to see you Soon!

  12. Everyone needs an outhouse! In the 1800's there was a three holer off the back of what is now our kitchen! We are going to have that same weather here tomorrow. Ugh.
