I don't know if it will be a 'summer of love', but it will certainly be a summer of music in the air. At the Maine State Pier and here at Thompson's Point music will abound. A lot of venues will be pumping out the tunes in the area June, July and August. There will be a little bit of everything by the looks of it. The Wailers, Rusted Root, Bret Michaels, Barenaked Ladies, The Violent Femmes, Peter Frampton, Cheap Trick, The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Weezer, the ever popular Reggae Fest, The Beach Boys, Greg Allman, Rustic Overtones, Queensryche, John Haitt, The Decemberists, Primus, Dinosaur Jr., Rachael Potter and the Nocturnals, Lake Street Dive, Counting Crows, The J. Geils Band, Motley Crue and Alice Cooper are coming to town to name just a few. And if the old pocket change is lacking Summer in the Park at LL Bean in Freeport is bringing in The Mavericks, Roseanne Cash, Dawes, Postmodern Jukebox, Lake Street Dive and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue all for FREE!
Yes, you heard me correctly.
In this day of $$$$$, the LL Bean concerts are free.
Without charge!
Gratis!
Love an outdoor venue, especially if it keeps you from being protected from the rain.

So that's where all the money I spend at LL Bean goes. Who knew? :-)
ReplyDeleteSo much music so little time :) it's going to be a full on summer Birdman!
ReplyDeleteSure is amazing!!

I didn't know Alice Cooper still performs and wonder if his shows keep being creepy! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a line up of events. I'm very impressed. Jose's comment made me laugh. Alice Cooper lives here and we see him all the time.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing lineup of bands. I've even heard of many of them. Didn't know some of them were still touring. I see you have a summer of fun sounds, especially with the free LL Bean concerts.
ReplyDeleteYikes! You should stay out of trouble for awhile, unless, of course, you try to sit in with Frampton or Cooper. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteSo much music, so little time!
ReplyDeleteHope you bring back photos of the concerts.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a giant bat.
Good! Free things are rare, even more if music related...
ReplyDeleteThere are some artists on that list that I'd love to hear. All we have here in this part of Texas is country/western.
ReplyDeleteNice image. Hartford has numerous opportunities for outdoor free concerts. Maybe not well known names, but some pretty good ones nevertheless. I like the Wednesday evening concerts in Elizabeth Park. Have fun this summer, Birdman.
ReplyDeleteYou asked if the animal carvings are expensive. Just the opposite. The rand is very cheap and the dollar is strong, so these things are almost embarrassingly inexpensive. They might ask for 1000 rands, settle for 400 - 600 depending on how good a negotiator you are, which is only $35 - $50.
Looks like it will be a good seaon of music.
ReplyDeleteWonderful when communities supply venues for all to enjoy, esp when they are free! I like the patterns of the photo.
ReplyDeleteQuite a mix of music!
ReplyDeleteThe Beach Boys??? I heard there's a new movie out about them. Brian's story is interesting...Anyway I digressed, this must be fairly new, this Thompson's Point series.
