Tight Quarters

The streets of the Old Port were packed Sunday. There were actually places that were quite difficult to maneuver through. A multitude of moving countenances, and I recognized only one single face besides Elenka's. And whose was it? Alana from the old neighborhood. All these people moving on a seemingly conveyor belt and a face from 50+ years in my past was the only one that registered with me? I found that amazing. I commented to Elenka, that at one point, back in my high school days, I really felt that I could stroll down the lanes of this city, and every visage I saw I knew. Now, when I think about it further that wasn't a fact, but I really felt that I could do it. My point, I guess, is that the city was so much smaller back then. Population-wise it was. Oh, and there was probably a good dose of naivety thrown in for good measure on my part too.
Who are all these people?
And where the heck did they ALL come from?

  6. it looks fun! we are always running into people we know...we were all the way up in dc a few years back and christian ran into a friend lol...we heard someone yelling "christian" and was thinking "they can't be yelling for our christian" and christian turned around and said "oh hey, so and so" can't remember who it was....and even weirder, when we lived in georgia we were down in the everglades at a gator show and ashlyn saw a friend she went to school with!

  7. I often hope that I can go out for a walk and meet no one that I know. And then of course I meet someone!

  8. I like your photo. As for your question, I ask that every single day here in Ocala. You wouldn't believe the changes in just the last 10 years. Or maybe you would!

  10. It's rare that I run into people I know, at least when I step off campus.

  11. I am surprised that you feel that way, given that you have stayed in the same place for most of your life. I feel like a stranger in Hartford these days, but I have spent a large part of the last decade elsewhere, so it is less surprising that all these people are unfamiliar to me.

  13. I think these are all the people who were stuck at home with cabin fever during your long, cold winter. They've now defrosted and come out to play.

  16. I know what you mean & I only got there in '79. I do still run into friends and associates from my 36 years in Portland when I'm visiting.
