ReplyDeleteI understand your pain. I, though, would pine for another vehicle - a Ferrari. But, to each his own. You do know, of course, that current Jaguars are not up to the same quality as the old Jags. At least that's what I've been told. Or read somewhere. Maybe it was a dream. I think, however, that if you think about it carefully, you could probably find a pre-owned Jag which would fit your needs and stop the pain.

DeleteGreat looking cars but I once had a boss who owned one and I'm pretty sure it spent more time being repaired than on the road. Still, it would look great in your driveway.

ReplyDeleteI had an opportunity to buy a XKE 2+2 back in the day of single hood but being young, just out of high school, I didn't have enough credit history and I could get my mom to co-sign so the car went to someone else. I was really getting into sports cars at the time. This was to be my replacement for my '61 VW. Back end opened up so I could get my drums in. I ended up with a Opel Kadett Rally....whaoooo! The dream car for me today, as well as not changing for the past 45 years or so is a Porsche. I had a '56 356A that I bought from some kid that I was going to restore, however, I could never get the electric to work correctly so I lost interest. It ran great, just lights, turn signals, brake lights etc. Had it up to 90 mph and that was before I went through the brakes. Lucky me I guess.

I understand. After many years of awkward styling, the new Jags are the most beautiful cars on the road. (Well, I really like Teslas, too.) The best I ever had was a beat up Triumph TR 4 when I was an undergrad.
ReplyDeleteNow that is something we have in common. If I was loaded, I would love to have a white jaguar sedan with a natural leather interior. When I was younger, cars meant a lot to me...much more than now. My first (because my Uncle sold cars) was an Austin Healy 3000. A dream car. I said I would do my student teaching and live at home so I could have it. Italian racing red with a black leather interior. I went from Chautauqua to Warren, Pennsylvania everyday and it was like going through a grand prix course. If I could only have it now.

ReplyDeleteNice to dream isn't it or is that drool? My choice would be a vintage 2-seater Mercedes convertible or a Mustang. Grenville's choice wiuld be a ruby red Jeep Wrangler😀
