Lake-land

This morning it's Happy Birthday wishes to my sister, Connie, in Florida!

She's lived there for quite a few years now. Her 'land of lakes' is ice free all year long. Mine? Not so much! There are lots of lakes and ponds in this state, but most are still 'asleep' in ice. Although that little red line on my outside thermometer (they say) is going to be reaching 60 for the first time, in many months today. I heard on the news this morning, that if you have ice fishing shacks on lakes in Maine, ya better move 'em. On my calendar, spring is less than 3 weeks away, but looking out my back windows you wouldn't believe it. Of course, where I live, March is a winter month; heck, April sometimes is!

  1. We are having some rain today or this morning. It is very windy. The honeysuckle is sprouting some new leaves. I think spring is here as it is now 59º and that is warm. Our oak leaves from last year are still here. In places they are deep and hopefully the wind will move them around so we will not have to rake.

  3. Usually March is a still a little chilly in Oklahoma but I ran six miles last night in shorts and a tshirt.

Great weather for running. Bad for natural gas prices.

  5. I remember when I lived in Illinois. The first time the temp got above 50, people would be driving around with the tops down on convertables. Enjoy your warm temps.
