Well, we're still working our way across the deck scraping, priming and eventually staining, but at least we can say the new firepit is up and running. And I must admit that it is so much finer than a babbling 'water feature' keeping you company while you're slapping away mosquitoes. I checked around around at various dealers, and we eventually settled on this one from Lowes. Elenka's cousin in New Jersey has the same model at their place, and they love it. It's propane fed, not a woodpit. I don't think it would be prudent to burn wood on a wood deck with a wooden ell that we have attached to the main house. Besides I've built enough campfires in my day to suffice my need to smell wood burning anyway. It can be cool even mid-summer here, when old man sun decides to dip behind the tall trees out back. This is going to allow more deck time in the evenings right through until fall. That'll be nice.
