At the Fair

Bring back the Boob!
We spent all day yesterday back in Hippiedom at the Common Ground Fair in Unity, Maine. It's our favorite fair. No cotton candy, no games of chance, no stupid stuffed animal prizes, no midway rides and no screaming kids wanting to throw dimes in glasses. Ah... my kind of fair! On the other hand lots of birkenstocks, lots of green living, lots of organic diet choices, lots of dredlocks,  lots of wellies, lots of ponytails on men, lots beads, lots of long flowing printed dresses, lots of long hair, no makeup, lots of long beards, lots of braless t-shirts and more. It was comforting to see. We liked it. This van had lots of artwork painted on it. Bring back the BOOB!, Kill your TV, Formula Stinks, but Breastmilk Sucks, LIVE without Fear, Harm None, Do What Ye Will, and Dance or Garden were some of my favorites.
I kept looking for the free LOVE booth, but it was MIA.
Braless Ts, that's about all she wrote.

  2. As I said to my sister-in-law yesterday.......Those were the days, my friend. They truly were.

Loved the eggplant and hummus sandwich with organic apple juice.

  4. Any old signs that said Communiversity? Any VW vans with curtains? Dead Heads? Ten Years After? Rider's of the Purple Sage? Any Women wearing Flowers in their hair? Medical Marijuana Tents?
Personally, If I could not obtain a cheeseburger, I would have passed on this fair.

    1. There were cheeseburgers, veggie ones. These are words from the same person that ate a spaghetti squash casserole? It was fun.

    2. The food this year was much more diet-friendly. I had a sausage sub. The fish taco line was just too long.

  5. So i'm guessing no corn dogs? "Breastmilk sucks". Now that made me LOL.

  6. Now I consider you lucky to have that type of fair in your vicinity. I don't even know where I would find one within 300 miles of here!-- barbara

  8. Yes, this is the kind of fair that is worth going to. I was going to ask how you knew some of the t-shirts were bra-less, but decided not to.

  10. I think I need to pull out my tie-dye Deadhead t-shirt. I had put it away for the winter but have the sudden urge to wear it. Looks like a fun time!

  11. We have that here in Ohio. It's called Yellow Springs and they hold their street fair twice a year. It is the Woodstock of the mid-west. It's famous for Dave Chapel having a home there, Rod Sterling teaching literature at Antioch College and the fact they had the rule that you had to ask the girl if, when on a date, if she wanted to have sex or not.

  14. Well, full of enthusiasm, aren't they? You sorta wonder about people like this, like the folks who have a dozen bumper stickers plastered on the back of their car. Still, I get your point about the fair. Having attended the Maine Lobster Festival last summer, I know about the screaming and sickening stuff.

  15. Well, I figured you'd get back to those "bra-less t's" you glossed over on the first mention.

    Great van! Is it yours?
