For the third year in a row, these two ducks have returned to nest on this nearby pond. In this day of dwindling numbers of marriages, it looks like those in the natural world are putting us to shame again. This is the first time I've driven by the water and seen them both off the nest. If I'm walking out back in early evening, I often see one honking and gliding overhead towards the pond.
As if to say, "Honey, I'm home."
They mate for life, I believe. Sweet. For ducks, that is.
ReplyDeleteYup, the animals that mate for life put us all to shame. Looks like the weather is improving, too. . .Yea!!
ReplyDeleteThat's happening here, right now, outside my window. Quack, quack: Honey, wait'll you see the pile of bugs I found . . .
ReplyDeleteNice shot. We don't see many ducks here, unless they fly over.
ReplyDeletecanada geese mate for life.
ReplyDeleteNature is an amazing thing.
ReplyDeleteSoon you will see the children of these Canadian geese -- barbara
ReplyDeleteCanadian ex-pats. They stay true to each other!
ReplyDeleteGotta love Canada geese! They do look after each other well.
ReplyDeleteAren't these Canadian geese? We have a bunch in this area and some raise their families here. Most head north when warm weather arrives.
ReplyDeleteBTW, marriage is still very popular. But so is divorce. Over 50% of all marriages fail. But people still keep getting married. I guess some never learn a thing. :)
Here I watch city ducks & geese...right outside of Hannaford...But it's nice when you can watch the same guys continually, which I don't do...
ReplyDeleteHaven't been on the blog world lately....just too busy but this one caught my eye. We have a pond of about a 1/2 acre and when you put 25 to 30 of these geese it it the noise can be deafening. Then they like to migrate to the bird feeders in the yard and tear up the grass and leave a tip upon leaving. We get so many they stop traffic. Just as soon they would stay up north in MI, WI, MN, the northern states if you get my drift. Messy critters. Fun to watch though.
