Deep sea fishing is not my cup of tea, but sitting here with a beverage watching the world go by is. However, if you thought the deck, under an umbrella, at Joe's Boathouse would provide some respite from the heat yesterday, you would have been mistaken. Even dockside looking out beyond these two tankers towards Little Diamond Island, could provide little relief. People flock from all over to our little corner of the world. Yet sometimes we take it for granted. It's here at our fingertips 365. It's just hard some January mornings when the mercury has settled around zero to keep this upbeat perspective.
No place is perfect. They all have their pluses and minuses. Right? I haven't found paradise yet.
When our waitress asked, "What can I get you?"
My response was simply,"How about a cool breeze!"
Ahhhhh, yes, a cool breeze would be lurvely. But that view - yep- many would say you're 'living the dream.' xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful scene. We love anywhere on the water, then when on vacation, we spend a few days in the Smoky Mountains. What a beautiful world we have. :)
ReplyDeleteDid your waitress slap you upside the head? You could have asked for a cool martini or a cool mai tai! Sheesh. And next winter when you're knee-deep in the white stuff I'm going to remind you of this post where you're whining about the heat. :)
ReplyDeleteHow hot is it anyway?
Fishing of any sort is not really my thing. But I like being out on the water. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyplace with boats and water seems like Paradise to me. Ingrate!!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, we had 2 icy mojitos and the sun went behind the clouds. Ended up quite pleasant after a day at the beach.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteI am with you on watching the world... and even about the breeze!
ReplyDeleteIt must be unseasonably hot in many places right now. I lived in Chicago for 2 1/2 years and I do not remember it ever being hot there. That lake breeze kept the city pretty cool but, it was hot this last weekend and there was very little breeze. I just heard on the news last night that we are expecting 117, 118 here in Phoenix by Friday. Yikes. I'll be trying to stay cool along with you.
ReplyDeleteOh yeh a cool breeze is often on the wish list in summer here in Perth also..Not right now though, we have a too cool breeze blowing!!
ReplyDeleteAs long as I have sea around, I'm happy. Seashore = paradise to me.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm wondering what temp a Maine bird considers hot enough to complain about.
ReplyDeleteMojito - my favourite summer drink and perfect for fighting this humidity which we have too!
ReplyDeleteWell, ya ain't doing bad, that's for sure. Some people say that San Diego has the ideal climate. I'd take the west of Ireland if you don't mind rain (and I don't).
ReplyDeleteExcellent shot.
ReplyDeletebeaqutiful looking day though!
ReplyDeleteSorry, Birdman, you've got a brief window in the summer and then an even shorter one in foliage season when it is Paradise if we measure Paradise by weather. I have been up there in winter and was happy to depart.
