Fall Ritual

Each autumn, I keep putting it off and putting it off. It's inevitable but I just can't seem to get myself the spirit to do till now. The ritual of putting the summer, garden hoses away. This weekend, I'll turn the water off, unhook the lines of hose and stretch them up the hill to let the remnants of any water left to drain away. I'll let them sit there in the sun for a couple of hours to warm and become pliable and then slowly wrap them up and carry them to the celler, safe and sound until May. The gentle scrapping of dead leaves running across the walkway and down the driveway will be all that'll remain of this tangled scene soon.
Requiem.

  1. Here in Virginia, I often neglect to perform this ritual with mixed results.

  2. Ah, the trials and tribulations of living in the northlands. I just leave the hoses out by the side of the house. But you have all the beauty of the fall, so things work out. :)

  3. Yep, I have my fall chores to do also. After you live in a place a few years it seems like I do it a lot.

  4. I did mine yesterday. I even covered the grill. When we lived in the country I cooked out year round, got that from my dad I guess. Cooking out in the winter does a wonderful thing, it makes the cooking slow down, something I need to do so I don't cook things so fast. We are just starting to have the foliage on the ground, leaf pickup started this week.
Now all I have to do is wait for you winter photo postings that I enjoy.

  5. "Closing up" for the winter is an odious task but you make it sound somewhat attractive.

  6. That's one ritual I don't have to worry about.

  7. Now there is another chore I need to do. We woke this morning to a dusting of snow on the ground. Winter is just around the corner, sad to say.

  9. Autumn is my favorite season.
Anyway I'm glad that I don't have to do this "ritual", as I live in a building! :)
But I like the colorful leaves!
    Please, don't give up okay!
