Cripes!
Did you think that Springsteen was the only one that got himself a Jersey Girl?
I've let my guard down a bit this morning. I guess you could say I'm having a weak moment. Back in the summer of '76, Elenka and I packed our van and headed out on our own version of 'on the road'. We left in June, headed south to visit my aunt in Raleigh, North Carolna, on to see an ex-roommate in Greenville, and then back to Jersey for Judith's wedding. After that great day, we turned left and began a meandering, ever-changing path to the West coast. Every day was truly different. We never really knew where or when our day would end. We loved it! Without a doubt, it was one of our BEST summers EVER!
This portrait was taken a day or two after our return to our apartment on South Street.
Just a couple of the 'beautiful people'.
Enjoy a little of me and HER.
Woaw! Very 70ies indeed !I love that picture! You're looking a little like Serpico! :o)

ReplyDeleteHey! I think I hung out with you two in a coffee shop in San Francisco!
ReplyDeleteYou are poster kids for the 70's! We also took a trip cross country that summer...it was the bicentennial summer...Gorgeous country, wonderful time. On the Road & Travels with Charley!

Absolutely great trip, I have always dreamed to do something like that... I glad you did it!
ReplyDeleteI forgot: you both look great in the photo!
ReplyDeleteWhere's the bag? No wonder you chose Elenka. She was a doll then and I'll bet she still is today. Great photo to remember those days.
ReplyDeleteIn the 70s, I had some military obligations to deal with, so no facial hair. Then, school and marriage and starting a career. I never got the chance to rebel or even look rebellious.
So, you decided to de-bag. I think I will show that I have a face, too, on my blog's fourth anniversary in July. Getting soft.
Fantastic!:) (Could have been one of Richard Avedon`s images)
ReplyDeleteAnd look around, the STYLE is back, young people look for "retro style" both in clothes and furniture. Good memories are important! Thanks for sharing.
Well blow me down with a feather, I never thought we'd see the day :) Now that is what I call a portrait with attitude, nice one :)
ReplyDeleteHey, Elenka,
ReplyDeleteGlad to say I knew you when that photo was taken! When our hair was 'blowin' in the wind!' Right?
