Wolfhound

Yesterday, at our St. Patrick's Day parade, I caught these three walking the route. I'm not really up on my dog breeds, but I think this looks to be an Irish Wolfhound.
I can be intimidated by large dogs. I trace it all back to that early morning run in with a huge German Shepard while delivering papers. He got his teeth into me good! A few years back, I was introduced to my friend Gary's shepard up country. That dog came tearing down a dirt driveway at me, spiting up all kinds of dirt and rocks. For a split second, I didn't know, if he was just glad to see me or if he envisioned me as his evening meal. Luckily, other than his hot, barking breath on my fingers all was for naught. This wolfhound, yesterday, looked friendly enough, and if I had any issues I'm sure this little gal, decked out in her greenery, would have come to the rescue.
As you can see too.
I was a rather brisk March day.
Happy St. Paddy's Day to all!

  1. Oddly, I think all of our local St. Patty's Day festivities have been canceled due to nearly a foot of snow. But I have no doubt many of my neighbors have nonetheless laid in ample supplies for the occasion. :-)

  6. Cute dog and kid. That is a loving dog, though. Not to worry. Shepherds can be unpredictable. We had one years ago that was so protective we couldn't have anyone other than family in the house. Eventually, we gave him to a horse farm.

  11. An Irish wolfhound is the best sort to march in a St. Pat's parade. I'd guess that the little girl might have been able to ride him not so long ago.

  12. But the roads look like they were clear of snow. That is progress.
