Strange bedfellows.
I like them. I enjoy reading about and researching when strange combinations, sometimes through no fault of their own, are thrust together, side by side. For example, some might shy away from buying a luxurious condominium on Chandler's Wharf off of Commercial Street, because this neat bait shop finds a home right next to you. I've seen actual photographs of the units. They are quite beautiful, and what views! If you might enjoy a life, sometimes complicated by sea smells, feral cats, the constant squawking of gulls, wharf traffic and (from what I hear) other wharf 'critters', you can call this brick condo just to the left your home.
What do they say, "Nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want..."
When, or if, it's a condo life for me, it'll be on land.
Solid, solid land.
I ain't no pirate!
"Drink up me hearties, yo ho! Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!"(from one of my favorite rides at Disney World: Pirates of the Caribbean)
We've lived in several condos and they were fine but I'm much happier in a single-family home. And I wouldn't want a condo next to this bait shack no matter how nice the condo.
ReplyDeleteOne of my dreams when younger was to open a bait and tackle shop down near Corpus Christi, Texas. That was when we lived in Texas. The dream never came to fruition, though, which in hindsight, is probably a good thing.
Don't want to be a pirate, either, Matey! But I do know some people I'd like to make walk the plank!
Perhaps the residents just want to get up early, buy bait, and go fishing. Their security system can keep all types of wharf "critters" out of their condos, with luck. I can't complain, I'm as far for the sea as I can get.
ReplyDeletei can imagine the aroma on a warm summer day!
ReplyDeleteIt always pays to check out the neighborhood before you buy! Yo ho!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a new garage door on the old shack.
ReplyDeleteBonita caseta... Un abrazo desde Murcia....
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I would have to continue my search for somewhere with less potential for smells. Whew. About the boats on my post, we didn't get to take a ride on one--those are for rent, and we just didn't have enough time for even a two-hour ride. Would I ever like to go back someday!
ReplyDeleteI used to live next to a tidal marsh. I'm glad I don't any longer. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't like the smells but sometimes commercial neighbours are the best since they go home at night and then all is quiet.
ReplyDeleteI have lived the condo life....in what seems like another life.....
ReplyDeleteGlad I live the quiet farm life now. I'll take the smell from the pasture over the bait shack.
I think I'd prefer living inland!
ReplyDeletePretty convenient for any fisherman in that condo!
ReplyDeleteBet that's a smelly place.
ReplyDeleteI can hear the gulls in your photo!

I don't know. Bait shops can get pretty smelly at times. Oh well, that is authenticity.
ReplyDeleteI used to live next door to the "Marshes of Glynn" and can vouch for the interesting smells. I do love this photo and particularly the contrast between the condos and the carefully hand-lettered Bait Shack sign.
ReplyDeleteBises,

The new garage door contrasts with the deteriorating siding!
ReplyDeleteThat's cool! Love the colours.
