Bus Stop

Well, you certainly could say that this bus has seen better days. Over the last 15 years or so this bus has been parked on the front lawn of this old farm house near the river. I noticed the other day that now the house had joined this motorhome in the world of the 'abandoned'. This vehicle must be home these days to plenty of varmints, the likes of which I don't even want to imagine. I'm sure in its time it provided lots of enjoyment on family trips, but these days the wheels on this bus aren't 'going round and round'. Its rollin' days have come to a close. Even the Dead, with all their equipment, wouldn't take a chance on this baby.
This 'road yacht' as been docked!
Kinda sad, really.

*Hey, if you put your ear to the side, just above that rear tire, I think you can hear The Hollies' "Bus Stop"(1966).
Funny.

  1. The Walking Dead survivors just flipped the bus they were using to escape the 'zombies' (a word they don't use in the show) last episode..... they sure could use this one, wheels or not. I hope they read this blog.....

  2. Even if the bus were in rolling condition, I bet the gas to run it would be prohibitive.

  3. Wow, how do you get rid of something like that?

    1. Buy one and park it in your yard and just let it rot.

  4. Every once in awhile I see one of the behemoths abandoned. They require a lot of upkeep and are very expensive to run and hard to sell. So, sometimes the best option is to let 'em rot where they sit. Sad, indeed!

  5. But I'm glad the 'varmints' have a home now Birdman, with all that snow coming and all :)

  6. That is just sad. I wonder how long it will just sit there like that. The leaves are pretty though!

  8. Yep, it's done. Sad for it and the house and those who share memories of hopefully some good times inside both.

  11. I guess the only journey it's gonna take now will be of the sentimental variety. But the bus, and the red of the farmhouse, the leaves changing colors -- all rather lovely.

  14. You do wonder how long it's going to last there like that.

The troll in the above comment, for however long it lasts until you remove it, has been making the rounds lately. What a worthless excuse for a man.

  15. I didn't even have to go to You Tube to get the Hollies going in my mind. Let's see how long that one sticks around...

  17. A quote from one of my students a couple of years ago comes to mind: "Hey Ms. Michelle, you know how when your car don't work no more and you park it in the yard." There you go.....

  20. Probably the saddest folks are the people who live nearby and have to see it all the time.

  21. I'll bet it was pretty nifty in its day. As were the Hollies. ;)

  22. How I love to find old vehicles to photograph, and this one is a beauty! The bright red of the farmhouse is a nice contrast too... Ah, the Hollies...
