Never Say Never

I certainly have to say that 'never say never' is a pretty good outlook on life. I wonder about the ultimate use of the word never in any language. Does it really make any sense to use it at all? If you do it'll usually come back to haunt you. My Mom loved Gloria Swanson and especially loved Sunset Boulevard. "All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up."
"Never say never, for if you live long enough, chances are you will not be able to abide by its restrictions. Never is a long, undependable time, and life is too full of rich possibilities to have restrictions placed upon it."
Gloria Swanson
US actress (1899 - 1983)

  1. Oh yeah? Well, I will NEVER climb Mt. Everest, I will never play football, I will never eat eyeballs, I will never own a Hummer, I will never have twins, I will never own an iguana and I will never date Johnny Depp. :-(
Well, there's always hope on the last one.
    (Just kidding my birdman!)

  2. The name of the boat beside the For Sale sign has the potential for one of those stories told in six words. 'Boat For Sale. Never say Never.' What do you think?

  3. My grandmother always used to say "never is a long time" to us and it wasn't until I was grown that I knew what she meant.

  4. The older I get the less "Never say never" sounds like a cliche, and the more it sounds like a truism.

  5. Nice and appropriate quote from the name of a boat, which is even for sale!
