This shot was taken close by a
Downeast lighthouse a few weeks back, with the glowing orb in evidence and a milky sky kind of morning. Trips to lighthouses were always a treats as a kid, but not always for Mom and Dad though. I remember one inauspicious adventure to Portland Head with the fog horn blasting about every 15 seconds or so. The trip back home had them sharing, quite loudly at times, a difference of opinion as the the welfare of young ears so close to such a startling, loud blast. Guess who won that debate?
I enlarged to see the building material...stone block? What a beautiful little building. If I'd had such an experience as a child I could blame my present tinnitus on it...unfortunately I have to blame loud rock music instead.
ReplyDeleteThe photo looks like a picture from a childrens story! You kids must have been a handful :D
ReplyDeleteInteresting little building. It looks a little crooked too.
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeleteWhat? What!
ReplyDeleteI place my bet on Mom. Pardon?
ReplyDeleteOh I know -- your mom -- but she probably did it with finesse -- letting your father think he won. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you heard that conversation correctly through the ringing in your ears? Maybe they were discussing the most direct route home. Yeah, that's it.
ReplyDeleteBut your parents didn't anticipate cheap stereos and rock music blasts. When I was in college, we used to make a tent of sorts with the speakers, leaning them into one another, put our heads inside and play Led Zeppelin's Communication Breakdown at maximum volume. And I can still hear something.
ReplyDeleteThe path here looks like it zigged when it should have zagged.
That's going over the edge with the next stiff breeze!! Excuse me????
