181

Yesterday afternoon, as I was returning to work, I looked up and was startled by the most wonderful blue, winter sky. Later, last night on a trip to the woodshed, I looked up to a fast-moving, fishback sky in the heavens. It was a harbinger of a storm on the horizon, for sure. This morning we woke to a fine veil of whiteness, lacing the countryside. You see, around here,  just when there's a hint of a thaw, or that fickled spring really is near;  it's BOOM-time!
It really always comes back to nature's way.

  1. Freshly fallen snow always looks so appealing. Like the symmetry of your photo.

  2. You're right, Kate. Even the 181 is symmetrical.

  3. I was listening to the news reports this morning about the snow that's falling in the New England area. But, you did manage to get a brilliant shot for today!

  4. Great photo and boy, does it ever work with the background color on your blog! About the corn chowder...yes, it has carrots in it. No beets!!!! What you see in the soup must be the red peppers (roasted). I put a few pieces in for flavor and color (not part of the recipe...my idea). Do you want the recipe? email me and I will send it.

  5. Symmetrical except for those shades on the right hand side. Almost as if they were blinking at us. ;-)

  6. A trip to the woodshed? So what did you do or say?

Plenty of snow up your way this winter. Should i mention that the temps down here tied a record? 88 . . .

  8. A boring grey sky here, and it's raining now...

  9. Cool shot! We are getting hit with snow too but not as much as you.

  10. The snow does look pretty! And I like those big numbers too.

  11. Even with my glasses on, I can't read that. We are getting hit by gale after gale and have had the warmest January since 1900. To each his own.

  12. This 1887 Brooks building looks none the worst from your continuing snowy weather. It looks very comfortable all snuggled in that lovely white snow -- barbara

  13. I think you've had enough cold and snow for one winter! Nice picture!

  14. The snow is so pretty, but I imagine you get weary of it after awhile. We had some very cold temps here last week and even a little sleet, but today it got up to 78 degrees.

  15. I like the contrast of the windows on each side, one half dark, one half partly shaded.

  16. Pretty, but you couldn't pay me to spend ten minutes out in it. My poor California blood just couldn't take it.

  17. Hey, any building that has a palindrome for an address is okay with me.

You might agree with a St. Louis slogan: if you don't like the weather, just wait around a bit.

  18. Yep -- that sneaky Maine weather -- so I snuck south-ish. No boots! No hat! Green grass!
