8:39 AM Fog

Today, I'm pretending I'm on Twitter or Faceplant... ah, Facebook--Let's see. What was my day like?

Come along with me...
There was a pretty thick fog this morning. I was out and about in it. I dropped Elenka off in Freeport at her Book Arts workshop and headed to Coffee By Design on the ground floor of LL Bean for a couple of hours. I can get 'lost for hours', if the combinations of java, magazines, newspapers and a computer are involved. After a brief trip to check out a couple of photo spots, it was back to Portland and lunch at Crema. I settled for the tuna salad sandwich and an ice coffee and spent some time checking email and my blog. Yikes! I found a free parking space near Bull Moose Music and pulled in. I have some 'parting gifts' left over from my retirement party, and one is a gift certificate here. They have a super-wide selection of music, as you might imagine: CDs, new and pre-owned and classic albums. There are some with seals that have never been broken. I passed on those but did grab a book. I needed a summer read: light and uncomplicated. I grabbed Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes. There's nothing like a good serial killer to liven up a warm summer evening.
I've heard good things about it too.
A retired, fat cop chasing 'one that got away'.
And the price was right... under $20.
Sorry you had to read this, but...
I really wanted to know what that Facebook draw was all about.
I feel really good about myself now.
I told you I was in a fog, right?

  2. The photo has some fog, but your mind does not! You certainly had a good start to the day and it was an interesting read of your free-time.

  5. you know how to enjoy yourself. :)

didn't know if you were serious about the mockingbird question or just baiting me, so i'll answer. they imitate the songs of tons of other birds and have been known to copy chainsaws, phones ringing, bells, machines, etc. as well. :)

  6. Sounds as if you had a great day of exploration while Elenka explored book arts. (My class was canceled, alas.) xx

  7. Well, how come you have a music store and we don't. I miss them, Amazon and Itunes doesn't quite do it for me.

  9. Well, what can I say? Are you sure you haven't been spending time in Colorado getting besotted and potted?

We had fog here this morning, also. But all I had to do was hit a couple golf balls off into the denseness and everything cleared up. I was also glad to get further info on Stephen King. Heck, I didn't even know he owned a Mercedes!

  12. Like your fog photo, and got a real chuckle out of your facebook post. Sounds like you have a perfect way to spend some time. Nothing wrong with coffee, reading, and good food just so the list is open ended.

  13. I can't recall the last time I saw fog, but then it tends to burn off here early in the morning.

  14. Sounds like a perfect day to me. Fog or no fog....or was that brain fog? lol

  15. I like fog, though I prefer the outdoor sort rather than the inside kind. Though it's a fine excuse for good coffee, my preferred antidote.

  16. Your fog must have been pervasive. You have the privilege of getting them regularly from the ocean. Sometimes in winter we get a stripe of morning fog for half a mile on the sides of the Mississippi. Doesn't last long.

  19. You DO know how to enjoy the area!! I enjoy hanging out at LL. I love that Crema (with parking even!). My favorite Bull Moose is in Scarborough as they have a larger book selection than downtown. Mill Creek Bull Moose is coming along...You & Elenka, stop by & say hi at Art in the Park in Mill Creek! (no tent for me, just a wee table with my wee works...)
