Who doesn't love cupcakes?
Where does the line start?
This morning I'm going to spout maybe a little blasphemy and answer ME. Hey, I've got nothing against desserts. It's just that its not my favorite part of a meal. If we're out to a restaurant, I'll play nice and ask to see the dessert menu, but for the most part, it's just for show. I'll tell you right now, unless there's a blueberry, lemon meringue, apple or some other variety of scrumptious pie ogling back at me, I'm probably going to pass. Not a big cake guy either. I'll partake at a birthday, but for the most part it's about the celebration not the frosting. So, now we get to cupcakes. If I'll pass on cakes, it stands to reason that me and that little 'mouthful of joy' are probably not going to be seen together a lot.
No, I haven't watched the Cupcake Girls on TV.
Would that change my opinion of those little cakes?
I think not.
Now, if Giada De Laurentiiss (Everyday Italian, Giada at Home) on the Cooking Channel takes up cupcakes, I might reconsider.
Hers are the only cooking shows I care to watch.
She wears beautiful dresses too.
Love cupcakes?
Ah... Giada.
Uhm, . . . I'm actually not a big cupcake fan either.
ReplyDeleteI'm not ungrateful nor a picky eater, but I'll pass on all the above-mentioned. I'll stick with chocolate gelato and die happy.
ReplyDeleteDid you see that one of the biggest cupcake chains went belly-up. And it's all because of guys like you who prefer to watch beautiful Italian women in beautiful dresses than eat cupcakes!
ReplyDeletePsst. I don't much like 'em either, except I have a friend who makes some rather exceptional ones and am happy to partake of her desserts.
See, you aren't alone. I don't care for cupcakes either. I've never really understood the sudden interest in them. Giada? I watch her too but, I never noticed the dresses. I did wonder how someone who cooks for a living could stay so skinny.
ReplyDeletei wish i didn't love dessert!
ReplyDeletePie is also my choice of sweet treat, oh I could include cobblers in that as well...
ReplyDeleteI would gladly trade a cupcake for a bowl of potato chips!
ReplyDeleteNever mind the cupcakes, I love the little truck!!They have these little trucks like that in France for pizza & various home made take away foods. I don't eat those desserts, but many of them are visually so pretty. Don't know a thing about those TV shows, but Heidi has some competition?
ReplyDeleteA cupcake is a good thing at a picnic . . . and popular w/kids most of the time. Well, except for maybe a young birdman . . . xx
ReplyDeleteI had a look at my waistline and forbid the cakes ...
ReplyDeleteI had a look at my waistline and saw the ghosts of cakes past. Like 'em. Like cupcakes, too. Someone's gotta do it.
ReplyDeleteSince you've already said it... I too admit that I don't like cupcakes. Mostly I don't like the frosting. And I only really like cake if it's chocolate. In fact, I don't really like many deserts that aren't chocolate.
ReplyDeleteCupcakes have ruined some good men I knew. Once they fought the battle of the bulge, only to be smashed silly but icing and flour. Damn.
ReplyDeleteI don't like cupcakes, or cake, either! I am always the odd one out on this topic. Now, pies, cookies, and cheesecake? I cannot resist.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of meh about cupcakes and cake. Except carrot cake, which I love. But, fruit pies? Yum. Cookies? Cheesecake? Ice cream and sherbets? Yeah, I'm there.
ReplyDeleteI'll have one if they're around and convenient, but I'd rather have a larger slice of proper cake.
ReplyDeleteWe have a shop here that makes the best frosting.
ReplyDeleteWho can say no to a good cupcake?
ReplyDeleteHow do you feel about crème brûlée? We've got trucks for that too.
