While I was walking around admiring, a guy walked up and I said, "Yours?"
He replied, "Nope, but I'd give up my wife for it. A beauty." Now, whether he was talking about this car or his wife, I'll never know, but I've got a pretty good idea.
The original model for the car, CSX3015, was owned by Carroll Shelby and was auctioned off in 2007 for, are you ready for this, for 5 million plus commission. Needless to say, it is not sitting in my driveway this morning.
I must say though, I'd love to take the one pictured for a spin along the ocean, but I ain't trading Elenka for it. (I'll get points for that last comment)
I once told an allergist who was treating my son that I'd give up "this kid before I'd give up my dog." Needless to say, neither was done. And, neither knew about the remark!!

ReplyDeleteWonderful pic suggesting power and motion. There was a time in my life a way back when I owned a slightly-used, bottom-of-the-line Porsche. Dumbest idea I ever had. Try driving that or the Cobra in snow.

ReplyDeleteThis Shelby Cobra is a beautiful car, but I was more drawn to the 289 Cobra. It was the road racer rather than the drag car the 427 became. The 289 engine was lighter allowing the car to handle better, but it still had over 300 hp. Had a friend who owned one back in about 1970. It was his daily driver for a while. They say the car was as fast as the driver had courage to push the throttle. Not all Cobra's were Carroll Shelby's private property and command such high prices.
