The classic question is always asked. Locks keep people in or out? Route 295 looms in the distance this morning in this shot. Got the new John Mellencamp cd(NO BETTER THAN THIS)as a surprise gift yesterday from E-. This guy can write! If you're ever locked away and feel you can't escape, value greatly your dreams. Here's a bit of my favorite cut, "Save Some Time to Dream". Want a wonderful night of music? Catch his fall tour across the US.
Save some time to dream
Save some time for yourself
Don’t let your time slip away
Or be stolen by somebody else
Save some time for those you love
For they’ll remember what you gave
Save some time for the songs you sing
And the music that you’ve made
Could it be that this is all there is?
Could it be there’s nothing more at all?
Save some time to dream
‘Cause your dream could save us all

I love Mellencamp....loved him when he was Cougar. Several years ago, I saw him in Tampa -- great show. The guy (self admittedly) cannot dance, but he sure can sing and write. Nice shot today. Gates/doors with so many locks always make me wonder: if someone cuts through one, aren't they going to do it to the rest?
ReplyDeleteAnd do you remember what Cat Stevens sang: "you may still be there tomorrow, but your dreams may not"..?
ReplyDeleteIn Europe, the new thing is to hang locks on great places (a bridge in Paris, a fence in Roma..) to make love last forever..An other way to dream...
I'd hate to be responsible for the keys! haha!

ReplyDeleteI have loved JCM since he started out. Very talented performer/songwriter.
ReplyDeleteGood use of the locked fence to segue into JCM.
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to see a psychological evaluation of the owner of this gate. I mean, really.
ReplyDeleteBirdman, today I was listening to NPR and they rebroadcast an hour-long interview of Mellenkamp by Terry Gross on "Fresh Air." It was wonderful! Thought of this post several times.
ReplyDeleteAt first I took this for some of our 'love padlocks'... I think Bob Crowe is right!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Birdman. Great spotting of the locks and everyone's comments just added to your post.
ReplyDeleteYou can never have enough locks,Birdman!
